It's still a SATA SSD. It won't be any faster than a regular 2.5" SATA SSD. He should have gone for an NVMe drive like the Samsung 950 Pro or the upcoming 960 Pro or 960 EVO.
I think one of the main reasons Lost Planet did so well originally, is that it was one of the first, if not the first, DX10 titles on PC along with Call of Juarez. Everyone I know with a PC bought it at the time.
