*EDIT* I'm sure most people can relate to how hard it is to pick out a few exemplary songs from any genre, there are just so many to choose from. I picked a few that are my personal favorites. I know next to nothing about metal. I've never avoided it, I've been showed a few songs and enjoy some disliked others, but I grew up around classic rock and then moved into rap in my early teens. Sure I have some predisposition to believe that all metal is about Satan, but ( and I don't want you to gloss over this part because it directly relates to you) I DON'T PUBLICLY CONDEMN IT AS BEING FULL OF SATAN WORSHIPERS AND SUICIDAL DOUCHEBAGS. I am intelligent enough to realize that there must be quality metal about all facets of life.
