This series is difficult to watch. Its not funny because no one has any genuine or vested interest in the series or the parts that make the whole. I can give a pass for how bothersome the entire opening of the game is and how slow it can be, but when you can't recognize Cid from FF7 on a basic level, or even at least more than 1 FF character that's appeared so far and can't even place them, why play this at all? I don't understand why Ben is making this a series. He's not approaching it with genuine interest in learning about the series, and in turn learning about the wider Final Fantasy/Disney diaspora, and his immediately need to have a hot take approach to the game quickly falls apart under how tedious and bothersome the first 2 hours of the game can be. Instead of making genuine effort of paying attention, he needs to be funny because he thinks it'll be a good time to make fun of the game. He falls into the same trap that a million other youtubers fall into and makes for a frustrating watch.
Brad and Jeff were able to provide some kind of foil under feigned trauma of sitting through the game, but Rory's flat and pointed personality removes the crutch that Ben had been relying on.
Ben, if you're truly interested in continuing this series, its great that you've begun using a guide (please continue doing so), but also I wish you'd explore playing other FF games to expand some of your knowledge base. The lack of it makes for a bad series when playing Kingdom Hearts, of all things.
What Dan starts doing to Drew at the 45 minute mark makes me desperate for a Twitch-style recorded chat log because oh my fucking god I want to see the audience reaction.
