Red Dead Redemption is one that sticks in my mind. When you first enter Mexico, you get on your horse, and Jose Gonzales' "Far Away" starts playing. It really struck a chord with me. A man on a mission, away from home, with just me and my horse. Great moment.
UNFORTUNATELY, this moment was short lived as I started getting shot right away and the song ended abruptly. I never had an emotional high drop that fast. This also goes to show how games may try to evoke really strong emotions but sometimes their clunkiness can be their undoing. (Similar situation to Vinny's experience with Fallout 4)
Hitman Blood Money! I played this game beat it, loved it. Years later I bought it again on PC and decided to see if I can pull it off as a true assassin would, completely no alerts, always looking like an accident, and making sure I walk out with my suit every time. Nothing more rewarding than getting a perfect score after carefully planning an assassination. Changing the focus from just beating the game to truly mastering it made me get a lot more replay-ability out of it.
