I feel like they should have done more to set the rules beforehand in this series. It feels like there is an on the fly rule change every 15-30 minutes with this series. It also feels like a lot of the bets being made are intentionally ill-conceived.
The show would probably have been better if betting weren't involved at all. The, "Steal My Sunshine," element being entirely based on whether or not you complete your turn would make this a more competitive and interesting series. If not no betting at all, restrict and define what types of bets could be made. For instance, "I bet x won't/will make it," style bets are super boring. It doesn't do anything for the viewer for that type of bet to happen. All they do is facilitate the loss and gain of a gumball for poorly conceived reasons. "I bet you can't do x challenging thing while attempt your shine," is a more interesting type of bet.
They are already doing the, "Ruled to death," thing with the series by modifying or adding rules every 30 minutes. It just seems disingenuous for them to have gone into this with little idea of how they wanted this to play.
This was really frustrating to watch because Ben spent a lot of time avoiding taking quests. It seems fairly obvious to me that the guy who had a quest after building the farm would have the quests for the farm tutorial.
