Netflix should've just pretended like that never happened. I completely forgot about the game rentals until now. It's likely I would have never remembered it unless someone brought it up, but even then, I'd think they were talking crazy.
Turns out my brother bought my nephew a Kindle Fire for Christmas, so I'll be buying him books and apps instead of a game. Maybe a case or something. If anyone else has suggestions for my niece, I would greatly appreciate it.
Hmm... that could work. I'll have to re-watch the Quick Look Ryan and Brad did on Ghost Recon. Super Scribblenauts would be a perfect game, but it still sells for 30.
I've got a limited budget for Christmas gifts this year due to my unemployment. I've got a 9 year old nephew and a soon-to-be 7 year old niece. They both have a 3DS, and the nephew has a 360. I need suggestions on recent titles that are fun and easy on my wallet. I'm leaning towards Plants vs. Zombies DS for my niece, but I'm a little stumped on what I should get my nephew. I'd like to keep it at around 20 dollars each. Thoughts? Thanks in advance.
@SamFo: I don't disagree, but it's important to show you understand what they do and what the market is. I didn't intend for this to happen, but it was the direction the conversation took during the interview. I really have no regrets.
The only content provider from their channels that I truly respect is Improv Everywhere. I think one of the problems facing their business model is that they put most of their eggs in one basket (youtube). While youtube is the current hotness, it won't be this way forever.
They actually weren't aware of GB when I cited references to things I like like Quick Looks and TNT, but they're certainly a little more aware of the competition now.
I met with a VP and director regarding a marketing position. I raised a question about sustaining their current business model and providing original content, and unintentionally had them on the defensive. Long story short, I cited Whiskey Media/Giant Bomb numerous times when discussing gaming and providing original content, and probably made reference to GB more times than I should have.
While the interview went well, at least in my eyes, I found out this morning I didn't get the job. I've been unemployed for 2 years and 8 months, and it would have been a pretty sweet gig. I have no regrets referencing GB even if it cost me a shot at a job.
