@gimpanse: TLDR: You're right, the developer is being transparent. I don't support Star Citizen because I don't back kickstart..
I feel like i can confirm this objectively, I haven't backed star citizen and will not (I don't hate kickstarter but I don't think i'll ever use it) but the controversy around the game interested me so I've been keeping tabs on it. After reading a ton of shit about the game, I think there is understandable disappointment by backers of the game who wanted/expected (And expected because the developers promised) a more streamlined, space fighting experience. *But as to the waste of backer money, I think that's bullshit. Polygon did a good piece back in august, it's pro-SC but in what I thought was an objective way. http://www.polygon.com/features/2015/8/31/9211969/what-the-hell-is-going-on-with-star-citizen
One of the most interesting things ive learned about SC is that one of the main dudes behind saying star citizen is a scam is just doing it to advertise himself and his game, Derek Smart. Here is an article written by him on 11/18/15 http://www.dereksmart.org/2015/11/star-citizen-year-four/ .
All that said though, I'm glad i have not invested money in this. My patience probably wouldn't last 4 years.
This podcast really made me think, How The Fuck was evolve supposed to become a major e-sport? how would the teams even work? In a tournament setting, would you have teams of 4, and play every variation of 4 v 1? Also, it never looked like any of it took alot of skill, just team work. Have teamwork beat monster, solo que and die. Could the best monster beat the best 4 hunters? and if so why would you ever professionally play as a hunter? or vice versa? I wish i had had the money to play it when it first came out, cuz it looked like fun, but i would never, ever watch a tournament of it.
@ripelivejam: I don't know what super serious infamous guy you're talking about, it seemed like he was goin' off the cuff but if its a reference it's one I don't get =)
