In-N-Out vs Five Guys

In-N-Out is great, but they're sorta in a completely different field then something like Five Guys. With In-N-Out, you're getting a simple, small sized burger with really fresh ingredients, and that's why it's successful. It's very basic and they let the true flavors of the burger speak for themselves. There's a purity there that's very comforting and delicious. With Five Guys, you're dealing with a much larger burger with big, juicy patties that have great texture. I'm not sure, but they might be cooked a bit more rare then other burger places, cause I've seen some pink inside a few times. And also... you just get to dump a shitload of condiments on top. If you go for All the Way, which is what I do, you're getting grilled mushrooms, grilled onions, etc, all heaped in there. It's a lot of different flavors all working together and your taste buds are almost overloaded in a good way. So I find it very hard to compare the two, because they're going for different goals. It's basic vs complex, and on a given day I might want one or the other. The only negative thing I can say for Five Guys is that because I get everything on my burgers, they come out being very tall and fucking messy as hell to eat. Like, they invariably start falling apart near the halfway point, cause of all the juices from the patties, the juices from the mushrooms, the juices from the onions, and the ketchup and the mustard, they're just destroying the buns. It's a big mess at the end and you need a lot of napkins to clean your hands.

And yeah, it's true, In-N-Out has horrible french fries. This is something you should never get at In-N-Out. Stick to McDonalds or Burger King, cause they actually fry em right, which is to say... unhealthily. In-N-Out prides itself on using fresh natural ingredients, and that's great, but they don't understand that when you try and stick to that ethos with fries, they don't taste good. They're just potato sticks. It's too bad, but they need to learn that fries need to be mutilated in unhealthy ways.
