...and everyone is talking about Jonathon Blow's piss. Is this a sign of things to come in a world where The Witness is less than a week away from release? Or is this Blow's way of showing that he can "release" more than one product within a single week?

@ravelle:

I think my problem is that on the surface, a lot of them look pretty cool (because space), but it seems that there's a subset of people that really like each one. This makes it hard to find the definitive "best" one when you're not well versed in the history of space sims. It's not a bad problem to have, but its kept me from diving into one, with my limited game time these days. I feel like Goldilocks. With a beard and a job.

Was just flipping through Steam pages today and noticed a game called Evochron Legacy just came out. I thought it was pretty weird that I haven't heard anyone talking about it considering some of its selling points include online space battles, space-to-atmosphere flying and solar panel cleaning missions.

Are we at the point that we don't even notice these cool games coming out because there's so much god damn space on Steam? Or will the constant hope that Star Citizen will eventually come out continue to fuel the lust for mining space iron?

Example of coolness below:

The way I look at it, Marketing is becoming more and more of a detriment to society in every way possible.

The general population accepts the intrusiveness and obnoxiousness of adds online and offline because you're getting something "free" out of it. However, considering the Marketing budgets for many companies have greatly surpassed operational and R&D budgets, guess who pays for that marketing budget in the end? The consumer who thinks they're getting free content, but buys products with marked up prices in stores and online. And not only do they pay for it in price, but also in quality. If marketing was minimal, the great products would get the attention and sales as opposed to the products with $100 million marketing budget.

I'm all for paying for quality content and ads taking a few steps back (general side banner ads are fine) if it means I'm only paying for goods and services when I buy a product rather than a flashy ad campaign.

Though I know how unpopular that idea would be, what with so many people making a living off marketing these days.

/end rant

With PAX East coming up, I've been thinking about what I'm going to spend my limited time doing there.

Having been to PAX Prime once in the past, I've definitely learned what I don't want to be doing (waiting in line forever for *cough*Aliens:Colonial Marines*cough*) and what I should have spent more time at (Indie Booths). My favourite memory, though, was heading over to the games library after coming back from a bar with my friends and playing some real winners like Sewer Shark as well as some drunk driving in Mario Kart 64.

What are you duders looking forward to?

Unless I can date a large burly dude with getting guns for hands, I don't see the point.

I'm definitely down for some rivals. I'm no master, but having some competition helps up the ante!
