Absolutely random gaming miscellaneousness

Felt like taking a few things off my gaming mind.  Expect my thoughts to go everywhere...

Fallout 3 got yet another patch on 360.  I noticed for the first time among some other changes, now bullet hole decals in the game have proper parallax mapping.  I showed it to a friend today and he agrees, he doesn't think he ever saw parallax mapping for those bullet holes before.  A fairly minor detail, but I love parallax mapping.  Between the specularity fix the 360 version got and now parallax mapping for bullet holes, Fallout 3 on 360 is easily the most graphically updated console game after release.

Noby Noby Boy got a massive ~500MB patch too.  Offline multiplayer, multiple Noby spawning, houses have new hair variety, tons of new songs, tons of new sound effects, now when you poop out objects it will say the name of the object in Japanese or English.  Really really great patch.  Check out Noby Noby Boy again if you haven't played in a while!

I have mixed feelings towards the Battlestations Pacific demo recently released.  I'm enjoying the game now that there's finally a proper single player demo for the series, but I'm not sure the game would entertain me for long if I bought the full thing.

Recent Call of Juarez Bound in Blood videos of the 360 version look mind blowing graphically.  I loved the first game for it's gameplay, graphics, and music, and this one seems to take everything even further.  Might replace RE5 and Killzone 2 as the best looking console game?  We'll see.

I got my copy of Demon's Souls today (Asian/English version) from NCSX.  Game actually surprised me in a few ways.  I didn't expect any weapon to be dual weildable, I didn't expect so many classes, I didn't expect you to be able to 2 hand wield any weapon.  I didn't expect the gameplay and graphics to be so engrossing.  The game is very hard, and can be very cruel, but it's awesome how other players can leave you PROTIPs on the ground.  I never would have beat level 1-1 without all the helpful hints players leave around.  It's also cool to see player's ghosts wandering around, think of the Fable 2 gamer orb feature but cooler, except no voice chat.

Here's a really neat article on game AI and bugs.

Boy the Blue Dragon anime is perverted.

I'm also starting to get really excited about Brutal Legend.

edit - almost forgot something else relevant.  I got the Killzone 2 DLC map pack.  That train level is absolutely amazing, and both of the maps are really fun.

I never knew that about Blue Dragon...it's nothing new, mind you.  I remember seeing edited parts of Macross that were left from Robotech and sexual situations and humor in the original Dragonball series.  Normally,  I prefer a good English dub anime (yes I speak heresy) because I am too lazy to read through any series lasting longer than 20 episodes, but in some cases I make an exception when I know the English version has been censored and edited to shreds.
