I put it down to play something else about halfway through Raya Lucaria. I did most if not all of the optional side stuff up through that point, unlocked pretty much the whole map up to that point, etc.

I had fun with it but it started to feel like the same old tricks at that point and I just don’t think these games are fun enough to justify going through the motions over and over. To me.

Guy down the hall shooting instant kill fireballs at me. Where have I seen this before? Solution is the same as it’s always been. I know 25 hours down the road there’s a boss who’s “unlike anything ever seen in a Souls game” or whatever. Then again it’s apparently just a yucky version of Valstrax from Monster Hunter.

I’m being facetious. Kind of. I mean, I’m happy for the Souls superfans who seem like they got their favorite game this year. Them overstating how revolutionary various parts of it is doesn’t harm anything really.

Actually I really enjoyed my time with Elden Ring and I felt at that point that I’d had my fill. I didn’t put it down disliking it. I killed some dragons. I beat up dudes with a lot of arms. I put it down feeling that I’d enjoyed what I played and that I didn’t need another 30+ hours of it.

Biomutant. I was hoping for something special but it just didn’t work out

Gonna really miss Ben on the site but I definitely think there's a whole life of obscurity that he has an opportunity to lead and that maybe, just maybe, that'll give him happiness. I think Brad said it on the Bombcast, but Ben really brought expertise in a wide swath of games and had some really fun ideas to boot. I wish him success in whatever he ends up doing but based on that, I'm sure he won't need it. Good luck, Ben!

As a longtime subscriber, I would be fine with like one premium Friday stream (UPF) and (maybe) one premium ongoing feature (e.g. Mass Alex) and the rest being free. I don't know how other Premium subs feel, but it amounts to about $3/month for me and I feel like that's worth it if they can be consistent about it.

I will say that I wish we could get more of the UPF style Friday stream back. The one they did before the holiday break really hit the spot. Not sure how practical it is but yeah. Everyone together bantering while they play a variety of games is what I enjoy from them.

Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate

My girlfriend bought herself a copy earlier in the day to play with me. She never played any Monster Hunter or even a game like it before that. We played through midnight. 😂

I do the vast majority of sidestories. So far the only one I've done all the sidestories in is Yakuza 6.

I generally do minigames when I enjoy them, so I usually play the arcade games, the more unique mini games (like the dice game from Judgment or spearfishing in Yakuza 6), I play koi koi, poker, and blackjack, etc.

I have a dream where someday I will go through and get Platinum trophies on all the Yakuza games but it can be a lot of stuff in some of them! So in lieu of that, at the very least, I'd like to play through all of them on Legendary.

I think my 5 year old will enjoy it so we'll definitely play it on the TV (on that very fine Animal Crossing Switch) buuuuut I will probably also keep a separate camp on my Switch Lite for me and so we can trade fruit!

Yeah, the dichotomy between the quality of the Sam/Cliff/Lou and Die-Hardman story stuff and the Bridget/Amelie/EE/Higgs story stuff is so extreme. It sucks that 90+% of the game focuses on the latter because the former is so much stronger.
