Lusitanians? The lusitanians were a people from pre-roman spain, or the Iberian peninsula. There is an unrelated Kingdom of Iberia in the Caucasus, which was next to Persia. I wonder if whoever wrote this thing just googled "Iberia" and picked a country name with no additional research whatsoever.

Redoing the shooting in Re4 would break that game. Every action, yours and the enemies, feels so well tuned around a specific range of motion and animation timing. Managing crowds is a huge part of why that game is fun, having to make split second decisions about when to back up, when to try and fit a reload in, when to try for melee attacks to make some more space.. I can understand why people don't like it, but for for its own purposes Re4 controls extremely well.

Slapping in even Dead Space style controls would fundamentally change how that game plays. I'm not convinced that Capcom would put enough work into it to make it any better than the original, and in that case what would be the point?

I enjoyed this weeks cyber-dystopia discussions about VR destroying civilization.

I wonder how common unknowing or forced use of VR will be, like your friend gets wasted lets strap the vr on and make him think he is falling off a cliff, or CIA blacksites strapping a VR thing to your face and making you watch some messed up stuff..

Wonder how much of this DOA stuff was influenced by the soft ban on sexy costumes in DOA tournaments from... like a year ago? Or whenever that was. Seeing your biggest community start silly rules to try and limit the visibility of the "sexy" aspect of your franchise is not a good indication that you should try and sell more merchandise to them that capitalizes on that aspect.

I appreciate the argument that the real reason DOA isn't being brought over is because there is no market for it, but I think that is not taking into account the gaming press' role in suppressing that market and shaming people who might otherwise have been part of it. Maybe there is no market because for the last ten years every article about the series has been about how the game is mysoginistic, how the people who play it are perverts and creeps and failures.

Jeff's spartan has some fuckin crazy deltoids.

Never been a big fan of the post-Bungie spartan designs. I like the emphasis they put on differentiating the materials of the suits but they always just look kinda goofy.

edit: Also Halo 4 didn't descope you when hit on launch, and it contributed to the atrocious state of multiplayer being absolutely dominated by DMRs. I think they might have patched this out but I haven't played Halo 4 in forever so I'm not certain.

House of Leaves is probably the best representation of "this space should not be", partly because it starts so innocuously. The first indication that something is wrong is that a guy doing carpentry on his house finds out that one measurement he took is like 1/16th of an inch off of what it should be, based on every other measurement he took.

And things gradually get worse and worse, as he finds out that the house is indeed much larger on the inside than it should be. I won't spoil it because its a fantastic book.
