@ellrick: That is accurate but remember Rorie wasn't involved. If you look at the table posted above that excludes him, Bloodborne doesn't crack the top 10 - I think it's 11 or 12th. Also those values are reversed if that wasn't clear - a 10 is someone's 1st place game. Bloodborne getting a 5, 3, and 4 means it was 6th, 8th, and 7th on various lists.
Yeah, that makes sense, and its not unprecedented. Still surprising, having listened to GB regularly all year I thought for sure it would make the top 10.
LOL...Witcher 3 only in 10th place...this is probably the worst GotY list that I have seen for 2015
Have to disagree, being someone that felt the Witcher's gameplay and overall mechanics were nowhere near the bar set by the writing and presentation, I think its one of the better lists Ive seen for 2015.
@ellrick: They've always valued games one person loves (Invisible Inc, Kerbal) over games everyone thought was okay (Bloodborne). Excluding Rorie, Bloodborne didn't actually crack anyone's top 5, despite being on a few lists. So it really didn't rank that highly.
Fair enough, I was just basing that assumption on this table. Cant attest to its accuracy though.
I can understand why Mario Maker would get picked because these guys have a built in audience for their creations and reactions.
I think for the average joe who isnt the social media butterfly, its an entirely different experience, but who cares, its their list.
I dont understand how Bloodborne ranked so high on individual lists, but didnt make the site top 10 at all though. Maybe because it came out so early in the year?
Good list, Patrick. Nice to see you back on the site.
Also I still think that Mario Maker is primarily a game for people with a fanbase (or maybe very competitive friends), as Patrick has even pretty much stated here himself. (Note: I'm not saying it's a bad game/it shouldn't be on top 10 lists at all.)
I agree 100%
I think it gets a huge boost from these guys because they have a platform and thousands of followers. Which is fine, its their goty list.
Censorship, the suppression of words, images, or ideas that are "offensive," happens whenever some people succeed in imposing their personal political or moral values on others. Censorship can be carried out by the government as well as private pressure groups.
There is a definite learning curve and lots of configuring, but the Steam Controller in trackball and gyro aiming mode has become my absolute preferred method of playing FPS games from the couch now. My 180s and fine aiming are dramatically improved over playing the same games with a thumb stick.
Being a TF2 fanatic since beta, I am excited for this game despite my complete lack of faith in Blizzard's ability to properly balance it. Probably this is the closest to a TF3 we will ever see.
