I love rhythm games, but I usually dislike a lot of the music in them and they are not usually the driving force that keeps me playing. Now, I enjoy vocaloids. I don't listen to them religiously, but I still enjoy them quite a bit. So you can probably guess that I was hooked to this game the moment I played the demo. This game has a great selection of songs and even introduced me to a lot of great ones I didn't know about before. I've gotten very close to Full Comboing every song on every difficulty and each mode. Only thing stopping me was the hand pain the 3DS was causing me. I still have plans to FC every song in this.

After X&Y, I was just about done with the Pokemon series. They were easily my least favorite games in the series by far and nearly tricked me into thinking Pokemon just wasn't for me anymore. But then ORAS came along and proved me otherwise. I still wasn't hyped for Sun and Moon because I didn't know if ORAS was just tugging at my nostalgia. But again, Moon proved me otherwise. S/M changed a lot of the series conventions in not unsubstantial ways, and did so very well. If I didn't have rose-tinted glasses for Diamond and Pearl. I'd probably say this was my favorite in the series.

Dare I say, 999 is in my top 5 favorite games of all time. Virtue's Last Reward is superb as well, but I don't think holds its own against 999. Zero Time Dilemma feels about the same as VLR was. How are you supposed to top what 999 was other than tuning up the gameplay slightly. ZTD tried topping 999 by making a massive change of pace in terms of story presentation from the previous two games that didn't always quite land. A few questionable story bits that'll leave you scratching your head at, and cutscenes/animations that can look pretty ugly and laughable at times even on the PC version. A lot of people weren't fans of the ending of the trilogy, but I think it's still an overall great game. And a fitting, and overall satisfying end to the trilogy.

I'm not good with horror at all. I can count the number of horror games I've played on one hand. Thankfully it didn't take me too long to realize Corpse Party wasn't a "true" horror game where I was scared the entire time I was playing it, and I could just mostly sit back and enjoy the story. And what a story and ride it is. While this isn't a horror game in the way something like Amnesia or Fatal Frame is. It's far more into the disturbing and grotesque side of things. I'm hoping the two sequels come to 3DS because I'm anxious to continue this story.

I played this game as a way to just chill out for about half an hour at the end of every day. Which is why it took me a month (literally. Nov. 29th to Dec. 29th) to get my first ending. A common theme you'll find from me this year is playing games that leave me feeling hollow after. Feeling hollow after getting attached to a world and its characters. This world and its characters felt the hardest to finish with. Maybe it's because I did play it day to day at roughly the same time the game actually takes place (which was a complete accident). Hearing talk about Christmas and New Years approaching at the same time in game and real life helped get me more invested. Maybe it was *just* the colorful cast of clients you serve throughout the game that you want to hug at every moment. Probably both.

This random little RPG Maker RPG I bought mostly on a whim after seeing it on twitter turned out to be one of the cutest, funnest, heartwarming, a lot of other emotions, games I played this year. Even having one of the endings bring me to the brink of tears. This game will probably take you at most 5-6 hours to beat, but those few hours were some of the most enjoyable hours I've had this year.

Oneshot is an RPG Maker freeware game released last year, and released on Steam earlier this year for $10 with a bunch of added content. I really don't want to say more about this game other than you play as an adorable catboy named Niko in a world where their sun is dying. The less you know about this game before playing, the better.

You really don't need to hear more about this game, do you? I've been a huge fan of the original Mother on NES for the longest time. And Undertale is heavily inspired by that game in many ways. With a lot of its own original ideas. It's a match made in heaven for me.

This game was at the top of my backlog for the longest time. I only realized in October that I had the Wii available to play and decided to finally play through this all the way. Fragile Dreams is a masterpiece in every way other than gameplay. I think if the developers had spent longer on the gameplay of it, this game could've been argued as one of the games of the decade. Fragile Dreams has an amazing atmosphere unlike a lot of what I've seen in other horror games. While this game is more of a horror-light, there are still plenty of times the game will get you on edge. And with one of the greatest side-stories I've ever seen in a game (I'm actually tearing up from it just writing this). This is a game I won't forget anytime soon.

Ace Attorney is, I'd say, my favorite series of all time. And I don't think it's ever been better after Spirit of Justice. I really don't know how to put into words how much I love this game without using a bunch of meaningless buzzwords. I think it's, quite possibly, the greatest in the series, and that's not something I say lightly. It's hard to go into what makes this game so great without making this whole paragraph its own blog post and going deep into every case in the game. I'm really excited for the future of Ace Attorney after this game. Hopefully they don't falter along the way like Dual Destinies again.
