You have my sympathy, but you need to understand that you are never too old to go to clubs. Age is just a conversation point, not a barrier. If you walk into a frat boy club like you own the place while bleeding confidence, people will treat you in kind.
But that's another topic. Read "The Game: from Neil Strauss
I wasn't sure if ugly ass PS1 graphics helped form any childhood memories that could later be exploited, but the general impression I'm getting is that they didn't.
I guess the 90's and millennia just merged into one big donkey humping mess of regret and disappointment.
@Bloviator: Dude, get out of the house! I'm home on a Saturday because I'm a married man with a 5 year old kid!
This great 80's tribute band comes to town every couple of months... http://www.mega80s.com/ They always pack the house, and almost everybody dresses in 80's crap. I myself go as Robert Smith from The Cure and get a surprising amount of play from the ladies.
Anyway, I give you permission to shoot me in the head if any band starts playing "The Impression That I Get" while trying to be ironic.
In some ways, yea the 80's have been retro since 94. However in the past few years I've been to 80's night at local dance clubs, and 22 year old chicks are dressing like Madonna circa 1984. I think the 80's have become it's own genre, and not just part of the usual 20 year nostalgia delay.
But who in the hell would want to dress like a bum for 90's night at a bar? If any 90's pop culture would get the retro treatment, it should be video games. I'm just unsure that they will.
