Why did you post this in the forum? This is sort of more of a blog or review then... conversation?

@believer258: I think it would be perfect to think of it the same way that we think about Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest. Final Fantasy includes everything from MMO's to Tactics, and while not core games all you include most of them in the same breath that you speak about any of the other ones. The same goes for Dragon Quest. I guess my feeling of it is that Megaten was just a little more forward facing in not numbering everything but still allowing things to be included. I am sorry, but after you break double digits you need to stop counting.

I understand that in Japan "MegaTen" is considered the core series and adding the "Shin" denotes the entire thing as a spin off series, but here is my question: so? Just because something is a side series or side story still makes it fall under the same series arch. I don't know, just wondering how other people who edit the wiki feel.

You probably aren't going to like this game. Atelier games are about as long as you want to make them, you can draw out side quests and some actions for extended periods of time if you really want, but most of the time it seems like some of the stuff is set up for the second or additional play throughs where you have better equipment.

Sure, but I equip her with the best stuff I have, beef up her weapons with all the wonderful items I have made and she is still kind of worthless. Her supers do nothing, and while it is great to finally have something of a healer in the party at that point (even though the meat of the game is over) it just feels like I am just wasting a party slot.

Also, did I miss something or is the only real way to earn money from town people quests? That is great because if you are good enough you can get crazy amounts of money early, but that also means that you can kind of destroy most of your income if you finish them all.

@aarglefarg: I just got to the "big" town, or the second one at least. There is some chugging that takes place in the market area, and I did notice some of the pop-in of the characters. Honestly the latter example is something that has just kind of happened on this engine for the entire generation. You can see it in every Gust game that they put out, but they have normally found interesting ways to either work around it (Neptunia Mk2 almost getting rid of the town interface for something closer to twitter) or my either making the areas small enough that it wasn't an issue or having enemies/character away from the entrance so you can't see it as badly.

I guess you could say that the gathering thing has kind of sped up the game play from the previous ones, since you can't choose I just normally jam on the A button and sort it out when I get back to town. Granted that has the downfall of making me not really know what I have in stock or if I got something awesome, but oh well.

Only got a couple of hours into the game but I really do enjoy this one. It changed enough of the core aspects of the game I don't totally know how I feel, but I am really enjoying it right now. Thinking about doing a full day stream on Monday about it. Hopefully that will be fun.

@aarglefarg: Picked it up last night. You are totally right about the gathering being weird and there being odd slow down during play. Aside from that it kind of seems like another Atelier game, a fact that I am mega happy about.
