Gritty is in this game!?

I haven't played enough, but I wouldn't be surprised if he was.

@grubber788: You already bought it based on what you like. I think that means the marketing, of whichever variety appealed to you, did its job. Giant Bomb isn't marketing a game...

Funny you should say that. They may not be marketing the game, but developers view sites like Giant Bomb as marketing channels because they drive awareness and consideration of titles. I understand GB does not (and should not!) market games, but it always breaks my heart a little when a good game doesn't get its time in the sun because it ultimately means fewer people will experience the title themselves.

@ronindrummer200: Personally disagree with that assessment. I bought this game on a lark from GOG based on the art style and screenshots and am having a blast with it despite knowing next to nothing about this classic CRPG style. Had I seen this QL before buying, I might not have bought it.

Generally, I wish reviewers across the industry would point to the the qualities of a game that folks might find interesting and engaging even if those qualities aren't as important to the reviewer themselves. Like, an acknowledgement that when it comes to things like narrative, world-building, exploration, some people are really attracted to those areas.
