This kind of thing is really discouraging for me as a consumer that traditionally prefers Sony products... Not only have I paid $500 for a system that is basically depreciating by $100/year but hey, here comes a superior experience that makes sense for me (having two 4K TVs). I feel ripped off after reading this news and I'm sure many of the millions who bought PS4s before any price drops feel something similar. I don't intend to upgrade my console like a cellphone hungry tween every two years. I'm not above going fully PC as a response.
I'd also wager that this won't lead to better gaming experiences. Even the biggest game developers struggle with porting complete, tested products... so adding and supporting 4K versions of games that are optimized for the NEO will likely take another 2-3 years. By then it'll be time for the next stupid thing. This is deja vu for me, having loved the Genesis but feeling fully cheated after buying a Sega CD as a pre-teen and only getting a library of 7-8 overpriced games that offered marginal experience upgrades. Bullshit!
Hmm, I'm not displeased with the truncated form of the article. It vaguely points towards an interesting topic with a wave at the air towards personal action. but I feel like this should be 9 pages long and about 2 years ago. Sorry if that sounds dismissive or rude, but I want more meat.
