Happy New Year huh?

Well, not exactly for me. Actually, last year was probably one of the worst years I've had and to have that rolling over into this year, it's off to a rocky start. I won't get into details because I don't want to get into a depressed mode. What I really want to talk about are my views on the games that I got for Christmas.

1. Guitar Hero: World Tour
  • I like this game almost as much as I like to find out that my only loaf of bread is starting to gather mold. That was a little harsh lol. The only reason I wanted this game was for the instruments and I gotta say, I love them. After playing the Rock Band instruments for a couple of days, I realized that the only way that I can enjoy my rythem games are with redoctane peripherals.
  • The guitar is basically like the guitar from the other games except for the added touch pad, which is okay but not really necessary. The mic is a mic. The drums are the main draw and I really like them because they don't look like 4 bongos and somewhat resembels a drumset? My red pad wasn't working that well but I got my cable today and adjusted the sensetivity and now it works a lot better.

2. AC/DC Rock Band Track Pack
  • I like this game because it acts as a track pack for the main game, Rock Band 2, unlike another game that only makes seperate games that don't allow you to export to the main game. Nothing much to say about this. I'm not a HUGE AC/DC fan but I do enjoy a majority of the songs and I am having fun playing them and that is what matters.

3. Left 4 Dead
  • I had no expectations going into this game but I have heard so many people say that they love this game even though it's short. I honestly believe that this game could have been $40 because of it not having a whole lot of levels and whatnot but at the same time, I could have paid $100 for it and have a blast shooting zombies. I have nothing but the upmost respect for Valve as a company for the fact that they are able to create quality products almost all the time and to make something so simple as just shooting a bunch of zombies, with what reminds me of a counter-strike enginey feel, to be so addicting and highly replayable. I hate how the videogame market is flooded with so much garbage and don't understand why more companies can't take a look at these good games and say, "You know what? Our game is shit. Let's try something else." But I guess I'm just splitting hairs.

I think those were the only games that I got for Christmas because I can't remember anymore. As for Chrono Trigger, I am really debating on whether or not I should actually spend any money toward games looking at my current situation (unemployed, economic crisis, full time college student). On the other hand, it would give me a reason to play my DS and play an old school game. I'll probably wind up buying it tomorrow because when I have money laying around, I have to spend it.

On another hand, who am I Goro?, there are so many games coming out this year that I should probably save my money for them including Resident Evil 5, Street Fighter 4....... Okay I guess it's only those two games that I can think of. I think this year will be awesome for games as last year was almost spectacular.
