10.RROD - M$ has lost billions on this issue and in 2009 with the release of the jasper chip it seems the problem is slowly going away.Never the less gamers will never forgot or forgive them for it(especially if you have a jasper die on you like me) and leave 360 for ps3.That would make M$ think about leaving the RRod in the past and starting fresh.

9.Wii - Nintendo, the company we never can predict.Alas but we "know" very little of their strategy history tells us,WHEN they do reveal a true succeSsor to DS the console counterpart is right around the corner.rumors suggest a reveal next tgs for a ds are out there, I suspect a new console the E3 after in 2011.It is coming because believe it or not ninty is tired of having to make ALL great wii games(look at ds) and a new box will attract 3rd parties cuz it's HD(they wanted wii to have a ds large library but it did not).THEY WANT MORE 3RD PARTY and nex box would get them that at first (just like n64 GC and wii)what they do with it from there anybody guess.Plus the next ZELDA will be a cross platform title like TP was any ninty fanboy should agree at ti point since the game is not even been revealed yet and wii is 3yrs old.

8.PS3 - untapped power is not something we will see untapped until new system are out.I will use GOW 2 as an example of how ps3 will live long but ultimately will not stop a new gen from starting(uncharted 3 among others will be a ps2 swan song).The hard to develop for system will be replaced eventually but not before we see amazing things.My point is this go look up resistance fall of man's 1st trailer when the game was called I8 or anything else from e3 2005 and you will see graphics the ps3 IMHO will never reach.ps3 will jump to next gen to keep up with the jones' so to speak,and if 1 jumps they all jump.

7.3rd parties - if infinity ward said to M$ "hey MW2 was the best we can do 360 if you want MW3 to be as big of jump and be as big a deal we need a new canvas to work with" M$ would listen.3rd parties this gen have dictated the life cycle they made 2007 awesome and this year even better.At some point though I wonder that the fact we have 1 gta at this point in the cycle isn't telling enough?A lot of devs took so long to make something this gen that if we get sequels they will be at the swan song stage if not replaced by dlc.I was scared that the dlc for gta was replacing a real gta game,but by the end of this gen devs might do that while they put their efforts on the future.

6.HD - LOVE IT OR HATE IT it's here to stay,but in what form?in the next few years we will hear rumors of the next gen of HD 1300p,2400p.Seeing as barley any ps3 games are really 1080p and lots of 360 games upscale from 640p the hardware needed to go forward will show up sooner than later.720p will be SD of the future and not be what we want in 2011.

 
5.Game engines - these days we play lots of games with HD art and last gen reactions within them.yes graphic are great but at what cost?the most impressive things I've seen this gen are mash up genres.The stuff we couldn't  get on ps2,like fallout 3 open-wolrd/rpg's,fuel's large open world racing and the like.This brings up my disappointment with this gen most of those are fps+openworld type of things like borderlands are cool but not as cool as when ps2's new hardware gave us NEW genres like open 3d worlds ala gta3.Agree?
This gen was a clusteryup i said it!(for HD console penetration anyway) from sony high prices to M$ HD dvd failure this time the 2 giants shot them selves in the foot ALREADY at launch! by now we know they wanted more market share than the sub 65 mil mark they have combined.65 mil hd gamers vs 50 mil sd (wii)gamers? sound weird?Sounds even weirder when you ask they don't start a new gen for at least 4 yrs.I for one want to see prices drops on all 3 console within the next 18 months(you know the kind of price drops that happen when new hardwares a comin')I'm talkin' $179 ps3's $129 wii's and 360 arcades would bring so many new gamers in.Plus if what you guys say is true and we got a LONG time to wait(18 months at the most and that's enough time for 2 more cods a gta plus next year Q1 Christmas and Q4!)we will be in this price  war for years.I'm so sick of "ps3 is a better value than 360" that i want new boxes with features to compare.Plus we have probs that only new hardware can fix( RROD PSN PS HOME 360 D PAD ETC wii online)this gen was a trial run for hd and innovation but kinda seperately  next gen they might role reverse = nintendo hd and sony/M$ motion.  

4 - Devs got lazier this gen with so many day one dlc seems that more than ever games come out broke or missing things we will have to pay for later.How many multiplat ps3 games have online issues at launch?Tired of your fav devs going under?ME too! But the prob is they have not

3 - Console war!  now call me crazy but i like the war.something about seeing people study,debate,educate,demonstrate love or hate about is nice 2 see the kids so involved in games.So while "omg psp2 graphics destroy ds2 graphics" are comments I don't eagerly await i look forth knowing I will soon read them.

2 - HALO 4 Master Chief is M$'S mario, he will sell nextbox.His next real game has been teased us since I beat halo3 and why do you think we know nothing of it?it won't be a 360 game.The rumors started on HALO 4 last year and and bungjie revealed osdt and reach to buy them time(LITERALLY!),the 2 games are nice ditractions but i still think M$ wants out of this race and to star anew cuz AFTER REACH HOW DOES m$ WOW PEOPLE AT E3????????.
I believe in 2010 the wii will still OUTSELL everyone else, PS3 will gain MUCH critical acclaim (due to long awaited franchises releasing)and 360 with it's 5th birthday  lineup of HALO reach and FABLE 3 and Natal launching will no doubt have the most rumors of a new box.All that stuff I just listed sounds like a swan song year to me (remember  late ps2 years?).
M$ milked halo already and going off the leaked screens of reach the graphics are not up to say gears level (something halo fans will notice)kinda proving the 360 has hit the graphical wall.360's been maxed out looks wise since gears 2,if at gdc they don't announce  gears of war 3 ,it WILL  be on the next xbox,EPIC already told us that much.IMO no new comer would best gears for looks is 2 was indeed the last 360 game.Natal  will not relaunch 360 to the extent the hype would have us believe only because it was not in the box from day 1,hence why they are testing a year(2010) or so before they put it in the nextbox(2011).Plus relaunching a five year old gamebox is a lot of work for questinable pay off(pspgo) and will delay the forward progression of tech.

1 - I want next gen because I know what it always brings us the gamers and thats better games.
It will brings a lot of new I.P.
that is as creative as assassin's creed, bioshock  ,uncharted and gears etc.
