@thesteve19: It says in the article that it was a mounted machine gun and looking at it it would be impractical, if not impossible, to use like a sub-machine gun. But that's besides the point. In WWI machine guns, especially sub-machine guns, where a rarity and your rank and file infantrymen (who died in the millions) would be carrying bolt action rifles. This was a vastly different type of warfare. So when I see the multiplayer maps with dozens of guys carrying rare Belgian rifles that were unreliable and were only made for testing purposes, but are somehow functioning like a modern assault rifle in the game I feel like they've cheated the premise of the game.
@zaldar If all you want is another Battlefield game with a fresh coat of WWI paint on it that is fine. I haven't been a Battlefield fan since 2142, and I hoped that this would be more of a departure from the usual style of game-play, and the stuff I've seen so far hasn't swayed me.
The article says (in the second sentence) that the machine gun was "later issued to ground troops"
