So my favorite game heroine is getting another remake. Eidos says they believe this is the reason that the newest game did not sell as well as they had hoped. A half a million copies less in sales they expected to be exact.

The reason why this game did not sell has nothing to do with the way Lara looks. Frankly she looks fine. We need to get over the fact that women in games are some times eye candy. Its the truth. Women have been objectified for the last 50 years. Most have grown up with the women in the chainmail bikini. I did not invent this fad. Its just happened.  I never played Tomb Raider because of Lara. I like the old Prince of Persia series and the orginal Tomb Raider reminded me of that game style in 3d.

I dont think there is anything wrong with the new Lara. She has had a breast reduction, and they added some nice curves. She looks feminine. I have seen girls with that figure, okay maybe not exactly that figure, but you get my drift.

The reason for the poor sales is, they game is not what it is used to be. She has been dragged behind a speeding car with her face down i the gravel. Legend dug her out of the hole she was in. But if you look at sales, that game was released in April. This game should have been as well. I know you need the money Edios. But if this game would not have been released when the GAMES OF 2008 (add echoing voice for dramatic effect here) were released. This game would have sold better. People just can not afford to buy a game like this in November if they are not a huge fan of it. Not only that, the demo released was terrible. I almost did not purchase this game because of that demo.

Anniversary sold decent last year on Xbox 360 because of the lower price point, and it was released in October, right before the deluge of games, and earlier even on PS2. So you want the next tomb raider to be succsessful. Dont waste time on redesigning a character. Spend time making another good game and release it in April/May time frame.

This year was the year of midnight launches for me. Anyone who listens to my podcast knows i hate to wait for any game. I am a day one kind of guy.

When the release of GTA4 came along it was a very chilly night. I nearly froze and the only thing to take my mind off the unatural late April cold spell, was my psp and Hot Shots Golf. The public at large were annoying, as i was standing behind three "tough guys" and listening to one of them talk about he was banging some guys wife. Classy.

The most laid back launch was the Metal Gear Solid 4 launch that night everyone was friendly, and I even collected several PSN names. And never have played with a single one of them.

Fable 2 launch I talked to a young couple, and had a good time. We talked all about games and the previous games we played. When i go to these things I am shocked on how many people dont ever play a game online. Crazy.
