Fuck I miss Austin. This is a great episode.

I feel like I don't get as much of this sort of Austin conversation on Waypoint, since the podcast is so short and always seems rushed. Then again, I don't watch many of their streams because I just haven't been interested in some of the games they've been doing lately.

There really, really needs to be a teach Dan to cook series, at least to go through the basics like fry, saute, boil (seriously?) etc so he can follow a recipe. Hell, get Blue Apron to sponsor it or something and make a little extra cash off the feature. Vinny seems to know his way around a kitchen and I'm sure he could show Dan a thing or two. It always surprises me how many people can't cook and are afraid to learn. The basic stuff is easy, and you develop a feel for how long to cook stuff etc the more you do it. Cooking is definitely one of the things I want my kids to learn before they leave home.

Also, @danryckert, cooking vegetables like green beans is super easy, like possibly easier than frying an egg. Get a pot with a lit, put an inch or two of water in the bottom and boil it (high heat until it's rolling and bubbling). As soon as the water is boiling, throw your veg in and put the lid on, reduce the heat to medium and leave it for 3-5 minutes. Then take off the heat and drain out the water. Done.

Austin lived in Ontario and he didn't know what a 2-4 is?

I was just thinking the same thing. That was definitely what we called them around Peterborough. They even use the term in TV adds. Then again he went to school in London, and that part of Ontario can be kind of American in culture and idioms (my wife has cousins in Leamington and Windsor, and they definitely seem more American than where I grew up).
