The problem Dan and alot of people have in Xcom is hesitation to take shots. When you see a new enemy concentrate all fire on the strongest enemy. Dead enemies do 0 damage to you even if you are in no cover. Often by being more concerned with protecting your team with cover and saving abilities for later gets them killed faster than being aggressive.
Thanks Vinny. Lost my nephew to childhood cancer in May this year. Listened to the Beastcast with Austin, Alex, and Vinny to get through the flight to his funeral which was the first time I took interest in Overwatch. Got it after I got back and with some friends have been playing it consistently throughout the year. I know some people had a fine 2016, but mine was the worst year of my life so far. The Giantbomb crew and community duders definitely helped me pass some tough times this year and lead me to games I otherwise would have missed such as Overwatch, Stardew Valley, and Hitman. Looking forward to seeing y'all keep up the good work in 2017!
Gotta say these comments are a good argument for hottest mess. As in at the very least it is messy. Don't understand why people got so upset overhyping NMS. That game is exactly what it always appeared to be. Guess people thought it was going to be more then what it always appeared to be. Hopefully people will take the lifelong lesson of never naively believe game devs presenting their game.
While I both disagree with Lucky's opinions and disagree with backlash at his personal choices, I can agree he was a mess this year. Regardless of how you feel, his image and many of his business dealings with developers were ruined. While no man sky was definitely hottest mess for a single game, Lucky caused a bunch of devs to put Oculus support on the backburner. For something so stupid it did have a massive financial impact as well as change the trajectory of Oculus VR in the gaming industry. No Man Sky was what it always appeared to be, overly ambitious and Molyneux level bullshit.
