Ben reacted strongly to me suggesting that he didn't know what an actual roguelike was in a stream recently. If I was part of the genesis of this series, I apologize. That being said, I'm going to enjoy it a lot.
I wrote a youtube video in which it's fully explained that Crash is bad and always has been, and everybody got very mad at me??? When I;m very clearly right???
I kind of don't care how 'good' the packaging is here, it's all built around the gacha mechanics. That's it. The sole purpose is to push you towards those purchases. That's not cynicism, it's a direct observation.
That's the thing, though. It seems like this is one of the few games where that isn't particularly the case, at least until you've played tens of hours of the thing. A lot of gacha games gate your play a lot more than Genshin does, and usually their gameplay isn't anywhere near as compelling in the first place!
I'm one hundred percent behind the idea that gacha is a bad mechanic designed to get young people to gamble. I wish Genshin didn't include it. But the fact remains that you can successfully play Genshin for a long time for free.
@crimsonjester: I can’t speak for the staff of course, but I can say that there are almost certainly going to be more preorders made available to meet the demand over the next two months. So it’s likely that most people who want to preorder one will be able to eventually.
Also, if you have a relatively powerful PC, there’s plenty of reasons to wait. If you’re not dying to play the Demon Souls remake, there’s not going to be a lot of exclusive stuff for a while.
I don't know, man. I can understand the at least some of the objections were raised in good faith. But I cannot shake the feeling that some people have gotten a little too into the rush that comes along with righteous indignation. I mean, what are we really talking about here? This was a guest on a podcast. It's apparent that they're not coming back. Why do you need Abby to genuflect? Is this really about "platforming," or about establishing a moral superiority that gets your heart rate going?
I hope people take some time to examine whether they are genuinely concerned about anything, or whether they are enjoying themselves.
