@janman I know I'm late to the party on this one, and Idk if this was the specific issue you ran into when setting up the Granblue capture, but there's an issue with OBS that bites a lot of people where it refuses to capture properly if chrome has the "Use Hardware Acceleration" option enabled
Loved the Bloodborne stream and cant wait to get caught up on the others!
@kodamun: Its just anecdotal, so take this with a grain of salt, but I had a bunch of friends over after it launched, and we actually had a blast unlocking new characters together. For the first couple of hours, you'll hit a new character unlock after every fight, (or at least we did with 4 player 3-stock) and it was kinda a cool thing having the winner of each of our fights go up against the AI to secure that unlock. I can see how not everyone might be in for that kind of experience though.
@efesell: That's exactly the reason I feel this remake nails it, tbh. It captures the spirit and originality of the classic version, but removes a ton of the unnecessary complexity and improves every aspect of the combat. It leverages that nostalgia, but instead of just exploiting it, they did a remarkable job of fixing what was broken, and polishing the parts that were already good.
Awesome article. Subterfuge has long been fascinating for me in a similar way that EVE Online is -- the best parts of both games are about the naturally occurring schemes that the various players pit against one another. Sadly, I've been unable to get a consistent group going to play with, as the time commitment is not to be taken lightly. A player trying to play Subterfuge casually quickly ends up not playing it at all.
Solid review, Dan. I personally found the game to be fairly manageable on normal, but that's very much not representative of the general experience most people will have with this one.
All in all, this a game with quite a bit potential that fails both in terms of consistency and and pacing. None the less, its very fun to play, even at its worst, and successfully recreates and riffs on the emotions and gameplay that have made XCom a franchise to watch.
