Free the Iphone!

My hopes and dreams of owning an Iphone in the near future have been crushed! Apparently im few months late to the party! You see I love all Apple products and plan on my next computer being an imac or a power book. I have wanted an Iphone for a while now but do to the hefty price of admission I have always passed on the idea. I mean im crazy enough to spend 600 bucks on a PS3 but no way would I buy a phone for 600 dollars! Now that the new G3 model is out I felt I could justify a 199.99 for an Iphone. My next problem lay with AT&T. I use T-Mobile and after comparing plans I have found T-Mobile to be far superior to that which I now refer to as Nazi AT&T . It’s a rip off on all fronts! Who really gives a rat’s ass about roll over minuets when I have so many minuets on my plan now that there’s no possible way for me to go over? No text messaging with out paying extra, roaming charges (which there are none on T-mobile) it was just not worth it.  Then I found out about Jail Breaking. Basically what that means is, you buy an Iphone from the apple store with no plan from AT&T  just buy the hardware then with some custom firm wear you can unlock the Iphone to work with any service provider that uses SIM cards. Sounds great right? Well it was up until AT&T made it impossible to buy an Iphone with out also buying a plan. Both AT&T and Apple stores won’t sell you a Iphone unless you sign the 2 year agreement with AT&T first, which sucks! It’s rumored that the AT&T exclusive deal with apple will end in 2010 and Apple will open the phone up to other providers. Really in the states that’s only T-mobile because they are the only other phone company that relies on a Sim based network. In the EU on the other hand T-mobile and other phone companies support the Iphone here on the other hand we are stuck the Nazi like rule of AT&T. Oh well guess im waiting a bit longer.

Well once the exclusive deal ends, that doesn't necessarily mean that only T-Mobile will get it. After all, they can develop an iPhone that works without a sim card. Some companies do this already.
Such as RIM which creates the Blackberry for multiple carriers.
Anyway I think the iPhone is a little overhyped. You can get similar phones outside AT&T;'s overpriced monthly plans.
Example?
HTC's Touch phones are great smart phones. It's available for both Verizon and Sprint but Sprint has a better monthly plan with unlimited everything for  $99/month at the most. You would have to pay around $139/month for a similar plan with Verizon and AT&T;.
