@palumanic: Congrats mate! Enjoy the beautiful rollercoaster. Can 1000% recommend Vampire Survivors. I think I put about 50 hrs into it over the course of 2 weeks, incredible game and perfect to play with one hand.
Sucks for all involved, hope those guys land on their feet and find something new soon.
As many have said this does feel like the end is coming though. I just don't think remote works for a dedicated site like this since there's nothing to differentiate you from a twitch collective at that point (to the broader market at least, i.e. people not participating in forum posts).
Can't fault any of the people involved as it's obvious they've been trying their asses off but the site hasn't been the same since the COVID shutdown and I can't see how the trend reverses at this point. I think the market is still there for the old style of GB where everyone was in the same place making shows and doing reviews but whether or not someone like Fandom has any interest in stumping up cash for that is another story.
Thanks for all the great responses guys, have been MIA for a few days with aforementioned new Dad responsibilities so just getting around to reading through them.
Saw Vampire Survivors mobile on the GAs and gave it a shot and am loving it so far. Will check out the other recs too.
My partner and I recently had our first child which has been amazing but has also lead to a lot of late nights/early mornings cradling a sleeping infant so my wife can get some rest.
My question is does anyone have any phone games they'd recommend that can be played single handed while the little dude sleeps?
@williamhenry: I mean what is the point of the site then? An umbrella banner? A loose association of remote people streaming together? Why exist under Fandom at all instead of just doing their own thing on Twitch/YT? I don't expect anyone to move if they don't want to but if you're not going to try and get together as a physical unit/office/collective I don't know what the point of the site is. Remote worked at first in the early pandemic because the team already knew each other and the rapport was there but it just feels super disjointed now.
Outside looking in it seems like Grubb gets this "new world" and his Game Mess brand is growing currently by being on GB but will still exist for him to continue with if the whole thing folds tomorrow.
