I think it was the CNET review that boiled it down to a sort of Stockholm Syndrome game, which, I feel I could be into.

haha that's me in the ranked match! Sure enough, the online mode seems broken right now because of bad connections. In that second round, in my game Ben got caught way at the bottom and I kept climbing until disconnect, so seeing it stalemate here is a really bad look.

if this is how its gonna be, I'm afraid for later episodes where things are more obtuse and don't have a clear goal or aim

This is perfect, I picked up the collection the other week and I just beat KHFM and I'm working my way through Re:COM now. The game is a lot more obtuse than I remember it being 15 years ago
