Games I have played that provoke "Wanderlust"
The word Wanderlust comes from the German language, and is used to describe a strong desire to wander, roam about and explore the world, or a certain space.Â

Although a flawed game, the atmosphere was expertly done, to match that of the movie. One of the first games that I can remember wanting to inhabit. The constant rain, the neon lights, the pixelated people walking, the radio in one of the bars playing an extremely old ballad, the way the vangelis synths would kick in when you went out to your tiny apartment's balcony to peer introspectively at the horrible claustrophobic view...
I could go on.
My interest in Japan and things related to it is only moderate, but when I played this game, I fell in love with it's depiction of 1980's rural/small town Japan. I wanted to explore every inch of the world, see what was behind every corner, etc. I stalked (like a stalker!) people around when they exited their homes during the morning, and tried to find out what their routine was each day. I visited different places at different hours and basked at the realism and complexity of this tiny, virtual portion of Japan. The graphics, music and ambient sounds also helped a lot.
