Playing it right now and I agree. It could use a QOL patch. Lots of small things add up. I'm more annoyed by the things this article didn't cover. There is an entire artifact building, recycling, and upgrade system that was never explained to me and I'm in the third area. Just kind of had to figure it out.
Another issue is while I love 2D games the boss fights only have so much depth. I've fought the same combination of 'glowing spot explodes on ground', 'quick tracking projectile', and 'delayed swing' so many times. Most of the fights involve moving to a side of the map to heal and then rolling left and right till you have an opening for a hit.
I'm glad we don't have a map. I do think something for navigation would be nice. Maybe selecting a subzone and having a trail gently point toward it like a less intense mage hunt.
Personally I'll most likely be finishing this game. For all the flaws and jank it has a fun little charm. Even if I think some enemies have WAY to much poise or incredible response times.
I know Jeff probably saw it live during the AEW show but I tagged him a screenshot of the Mr. Do slot machine during the show because I had never heard of it. So that made me proud.
