Matchmaking issues...Anyone know what's up with this game?

I've been almost unable to play this game online. I get into the first one, but then everytime after that I get "unable to join"...That continues until I give up and play something else.  I've noticed a lot of forums like this all over the web, but none that I've seen have had a solution.It has an avid community (which I'd love to be a part of) so the online must work. Can anyone tell me what's up? Is SSF4 just the worst matchmaking service known to man?  
Also, When I've gotten into matches asking to be paired with someone of the same skill level the system puts me against someone with 4K BP and almost 1K PP (I'm at zero). WTF!

I always use Arcade mode's Request feature. Works every time.

Nah. I've heard people say it only takes 2 or 3 attempts between matches, but mine literally freaks out and will deny me 20 plus times. My mind is blown.

@jos1ah: It's an error in thinking that, because SSF4 is so widely popular, the online must be awesome. The online part is probably one of the weakest links in this game thanks to Capcom not understanding/caring about online gaming. 
 
Best thing for you to do is either:
1) Find friends on Giantbomb and other forums and play Endless Mode with them. I can consistently join my PS3 possy 100% of the time without any errors and they are all around my own skilllevel and higher.  
2) Find friends to play offline with.

I have the same problem. Hit quick match and get unable to join most of the time. Now if I want to play Ranked I just go into arcade and turn on requests. Most of the time I don't even get to "FIGHT" before someone joins.

@TheLegendofLuke: Might be because you're doing quick match. I alwasy do custom and rarely have problems.

@Pessh: It does seem to be less of a problem when I go for custom, but it still happens more than I'd like. I think it's because of my shoddy internet connection. Strangely it's never a problem at 4am when everyone in my flat is asleep.

I'm not trying to be rude, but if you have shitty a connection like myself, like as you both do, then maybe you should open lobbies up instead and let people join you. Why? Because all of the green bar connections will find you. Joining games is a terrible idea. Just start rooms. It takes all of the hassle out of playing online.

I pick custom matches, any region...sometimes it takes 2 or 3 tries to get into a game, but most of the time it works ok.
 
My bigger issue is that after a match, it puts you right back into the main lobby screen instead of pulling up a new list of gamertags.  Stupid.

I assume you're using "custom = your lobby" logic, 'cause I thought you meant custom as in custom searches for games.

Why does nobody do this?! 
 
HERES THE PROBLEM: You are trying to host while too many others near u are hosting, or you are trying to join when too many others are trying to join around you. 
 
SOLUTION: Arcade mode req. hosts and joins matches.

@Napalm: In the past I've used quick match and custom. Now I just use Arcade mode with requests turned on or create a lobby.
