They still make 8-bit games in year 2010 0

Dark Void was a allegedly a disappointing Xbox 360/ PS3 game that I really don't know much about. Other than it has jet-packs and that the game is not really  good. This game: Dark Void Zero is a spin-off of this "main game" that started off as a Aprils fool. Originally got released as DSiware and now later on Steam and iPhone versions have been released. My chosen version of Dark Void Zero is Steam on PC.  Take that you bug...

Free running, shame that it wasn't just that 1

Mirrors Edge that was released back in 2008 has enjoyed huge popularity for being a new and innovative game. Developed by Swedish Dice who are more known for their Battlefield games. Mirrors Edge must the first ever proper freerunner simulator. Game uses the same formula as Portal. Takes a known 1st person formula and uses this to create a unique platform/puzzle game twist to it. There are occasions where Faith, the lead character, can use a weapon but biggest difference here being the fact ...

Am I too old for this? 0

Sega had high expectations for Madworld. Madworld can be bought in most UK game outlets for a less than a tenner. For such high profile game as Madworld this is a low price. Unfortunately it represents the overall quality as well.  Madworld falls under beat-em up category. The violence is extreme and more creative and brutal one is the more rewards are given. Creativity can be shown by creating kill combos such as piercing a traffic sign or two through opponents head and gorging the body wi...

The Lost Auto-Viking-Bots 0

Transformers Animated The Game is The Lost Vikings type puzzle platform. You are in charge of three Autobots: Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and Bulkhead. Each with their own unique abilities. Optimus can throw a axe according to the line drawn on touchscreen as well as a grapple to certain levels. Bumblebee's unique ability is to be able jump and use electrical switches. Bulkhead can break certain walls and move big items. Fourth Autobot Prowl is playable in couple of race levels. These race mi...

Nathan Drake has nothing on Mike Powell 0

Mike Powell is the current world record holder for long jump in case you didn't know. If Uncharted 2 protagonist would compete in such a track and field event's he would surely be world record holder in no time. Luckily for Mike, Nathan is in to a modern day treasure hunting and probably does't care too much about such things. Nathan Drake was already after his ancestor Sir Francis Drake's treasure on the first Uncharted game. There was not lot wrong with that game. Only problem I had wi...

Better than you would excpect 0

Monster Jam: Urban Assault is title you probably will find from a bargain bin. If you do, grab a copy since this is not actually a bad game. I remember one of my first PC games that was Monster Truck Madness by Microsoft Game Studios. This before the first Xbox even. Ever since this awesome game I've hoped for a third sequel for this series and have tried to check most of monster truck games during the years if they manage to get the same crazy feel and solid game-play. Monster Jam seems to ...

It has never looked so good 0

Monkey Island 2 is considered by many to be best of Lucasarts adventure games on SCUMM engine. The first Monkey Island has already been redone with updated graphics and released on XBLA. Monkey Island 2 follows the same path here. Amiga was the platform I played both of these back in the day. Nostalgia trip is always a sure for getting me to dish up for such releases, so in this case this is not definitely not wasted. What Lucasarts has done with the ori...

Is there a fun game hidden here? 0

Aquaria has lot's of things going on. It looks beautiful and has a nice melancholic mood. It is also challenging and some what original. Game loans lot from Metroid type action and Ecco underwater adventure type games, but still manages to relay a unique feel. Aquaria takes place underwater as the name implies. Protagonist is called Naija and she is a mermaid suffering from amnesia. Story is scarcely told with a narrative triggered by certain locations and things found in the underwater cav...

More of the good stuff 0

To a RPG fan, it is hard not to like Golden Sun: The Lost Age. Golden Sun itself was a major blockbuster for GBA back in 2001. Golden Sun: The Lost Age follows the same. Golden Sun: The Lost Age was released for Gameboy Advance in 2003.  This game is a direct sequel to the first Golden Sun. Story continues right after the first game with a different sets of character that intertwine with first games characters. I can't remember seeing such direct sequels often and this caused bit confusion wit...

30 years old and still fun 0

Here is my attempt of reviewing a 30 year old game that only has two colours and no story what so ever. Red Baron is of course the nickname for a German fighter pilot Manfred von Richthofen. Who was World War I pilot that is known for his 80 air kills in a simple and crude Fokker planes. Red Baron was arcade title from 1980 that utilizes vector graphics in mono-graphic colors. Not too different Battlezone. You are thrown directly to the action the screen shown in cool black and blue color. ...

Helicopter Emergency Rescue Operation duder flies again! 0

On a Game Room Quick Look of Game Pack 006, Atari 2600 finest game H.E.R.O caught my eye. I never played this game on the original platform but remember this game being one of my first Commodore 64 games from mid 80's. And a game which I used to play over and over again. So what better way of getting a retro fix than this. You are Roderick Hero and your job is to rescue trapped miners in Mount Leono. This is done with Roderick descending down to the mines with help of his ...

Xbox Live Arcade Inventary Blowout made me do it 0

Bionic Commando Rearmed was one of the top Arcade titles of 2008 which I somehow managed to miss. In recent Inventory Blowout Microsoft halved price for the several better quality Xbox Live Arcade games including this title. So for 400 points can't really say no to this. Bionic Commando was a NES game from 1988 that got ported to every possible platform . 20 years later the IP got rebooted in form of this Bionic Commando Rearmed which is a remake of the original NES game. ...

Solid 0

Final Fantasy II is notorious in Final Fantasy franchise of having one major make or break flaw in game mechanism. My chosen platform for this was Gameboy Advance and the Dawn of Souls version. Having not played this game for the original platform NES in 1988 I can not compare the differences between that and this Dawn of Souls version. Biggest difference here being the ability to save anywhere. This is actually not major improvement since the dungeons are reall...

Fun and addicting ..while it lasts 0

What has African savannah and artic circle to do with each other? Probably not a lot, except for this game perhaps. Lead the Meerkats is developed by Lapland Studio/Inari Interactive who are developer based in Rovaniemi located on arctic circle latitudes. Lead the Meerkat is a simple RTS/simulation game where you need to lead your group of meerkats back to green Savannah. After rather turmoiled event between two Meerkat factions. The grey meerkats drive the brown meerkats(you) off from your lu...

How does this game play in year 2010? 0

I have faint recollection of playing this back 97-98 but don't remember getting too far. Ever since finishing Fallout 3 I wanted to get back to the original games. Finally managed to do that and here is my take on how the original Fallout 1 stands. For many, like me, who have played Fallout 3 first will feel right at home with the post-apocalyptic world. Basis of the story goes by you being assigned a task of getting your vaults water chip fixed. The task is assigned to you by The Vault Overse...

Rockstar goes MMO, well kind of 0

Here is a review of latest masterpiece from Rockstar. Yes masterpiece. Rockstar is of course most known for their open world Grand Theft Auto game's. Which interestingly enough started as more of a racing game and which each iteration, and especially with the jump to 3d on the brilliant Grand Theft Auto 3 that series has been more a sandbox game build on the car stealing factor. Red Dead Redemption is a similar sandbox mode game with a western theme gearing slightly...

Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing > Mario Kart Wii 0

Sumo Digital, the developer of this game has done really good job with previous Sega titles they developed. This is no different. Calling this game a better game than Mario Kart Wii might not be fair since Mario Kart Wii was released two years before Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing. And although this game is a more or less a blatant clone there still enough reasons to buy this game. Especially if you are fond of Sega's characters. As with any Mario Kart you ...

Actually quite good solitaire collection 1

Other titles that I considered. Game to satisfy your solitaire fetishSolid solitaire You don't have to be 70 to like solitaire Review of a game you most likely don't care of   Seeing as there are no reviews for this game I might as well start my long due reviewing career with this title. Game is called Solitaire DS in the Europe by the way. Reason why I love Nintendo DS so much is the fact that the game selection is really wide. Granted there is lot's of showelware for the syste...

Why would anyone pay full price for this? 0

This is a review for the latest Fifa cash-in for the coming football (soccer) World Cup in South Africa. I am long time PES player but since Konami stopped making entertaining football games couple of years a go. I I've jumped ship. And play my footie on Fifa franchise now a days. Last such game being the Fifa 10 for PS3 which is no doubt best football game for the generation. World cup is major sports event arranged every 4 years. This year being South Africa's turn to ho...

Erittäin hyvä 1

Erittäin hyvä is of course Finnish and it is means very good. Yes, this review is partly biased because I happen to speak Finnish and Remedy are a Finnish company. Alan Wake get's described as Psychological Thriller. The thriller part is of course more suitable for movie or tv-show normally but it is actually a suitable description. As with Remedy's previous Max Payne games Alan Wake has lot of weight on story telling. Simply put Alan Wake is writer who is suffering from writers block. He...

Ultra violent cool shooter action 0

I have tried to start this game couple of times but always been put off by the bland/uninviting first level. Few weeks ago I decided to give this a new shot and just work my way through the first level to see what the hype was about. And I am glad I did. Killer7 is a crazy adventure shooter for Playstation 2 & Gamecube. Game has been developed by Grasshopper Manufacture notable known for Mr. Suda51. What separates Killer7 from other PS2/GC games is the fact that Killer...

Classic beat'em up – still lot's of fun 1

This review is of Shaolin-Lin's Road for the Xbox 360 Game Room. Originally this game was released for Arcade. This was back in 1985. I was old enough to play video-games back in 85 already but can't remember playing this previously. Currently Shaolin-Lin's Road is one of the better looking games on Game Room and most likely the one most approachable thanks to it's nice colourful background and sprites. This was the case at least before the third Game Pack.   ...

This should have been longer 0

After Burner Climax is Arcade game ported for Xbox Live Arcade (XBLA) and Playstation Network (PSN).  For a downloable arcade game the graphics look really good. I haven't played the original Arcade version of this game so can not compare the graphics between these games. Selection of aircraft's (yours and enemy's) look detailed and recognisable. Not that I could spot a real F-15 eh. Surroundings are really well detailed as well. Only problem here is that tempo if the game so fast that you don...

Lot's of fun but maybe tad short 0

As with my Motorstorm review this is another game I missed on it's released because of no PS3 in this household that time. Uncharted has always been high on my wishlist and when a friend offered this game for a £10 I couldn't say no of course. Having played through the game here is my take.Uncharted is developed by Naughty Dog who has done several games across Playstation and Playstation 2 platforms. Uncharted 1 being my first Naughty Dog game. So I can not really say anything about the previ...

Epic hardcore scifi RPG 0

Infinite Space is a science-fiction role-playing game for Nintendo DS. It got released for Japanese market back in 2009. Luckily for us heathens who don't speak or read Japanese Sega brought the game over to North America. And even to Europe. Nintendo DS is one of the platforms with most role-playing games(rpg) over it's catalogue. One theme that DS or any other platform doesn't have too much of is a rpg based in space. At least not in this sense where spaceship customisation plays such big rol...

New old review 0

Off-road racing is a interesting genre. On each console generation there has been many off-road racer games but these haven't gotten the same success as Gran Turismo or Need for Speed series have. And I am not talking about rally games here. Motorstorm was one of the release titles for Playstation 3 and a brand new off-road game IP. Having joined the PS3 owners club only few months ago I missed this game back then. I figured it was good bargain when my local store had this for £3. And ...

Boring 0

First of all let me state that this is from a casual racer game fan’s view. I’ve always played racing games starting from Pitstop 1 on C64 through different platforms to current next gen games. Especially the earlier Need for Speed and PGR games have found it’s home here. Don’t care about the most arcade style other than maybe the more recent Outrun gems. Other aspects that I don’t care too much is the import tuning scene. Any car Nissan or Toyota has made has never been cool in my books. Maybe...

Amazing game, but not perfect 1

Super Mario Galaxy has been out since November 2007, but I haven't had chance to play this before now. Many regard this best Wii game around. Metacritic and GameRankings have this game rated at 97%. Great game yes, but I wouldn't, and wont rate this so high. Read why. Super Mario Galaxy is 3D platformer and continues the same line of story as in every Super Mario game so far. Bowser kidnaps Princess Peach and Mario need to rescue her while travelling through vast selection of levels/worlds. The ...

Re-visit of old classic 0

OK, I lied. I never played this game before but thought that it would be more logical to have such title. Why else would you want to play game from year 2000 nine years later. Well simply put and bit of background on me. I've been into videogames for closer to 25 years and even though I've been always interested in RPG's, but still I've missed most great JRPG's. Having just recently picked up and finished Chrono Trigger for DS (which btw is something I will return to for other endings one day, ...

Half minute game 0

Just finished this game and though that I write couple lines about this. I won't go on to details on what kind of game this is, because chances that everyone interested know what this is. Also the name tells quite well what this is about. I used just under 8h to finish the games. Only the extra 3 sec hero is to be done. Probably will try to do it because it seems to unlock the music player. And the music is one of the better things in this game. Anyway I can say that I enjoyed the retro feel an...
