They've already basically confirmed that it'll be a next gen pokemon.

Serebii, from June: "The Pokémon Company CEO, Tsunekazu Ishihara who provided a few minor tidbits about the upcoming Pokémon game for Nintendo Switch due out in 2019. He reconfirmed that this game is due for release in the second half of 2019, will have better graphics than any prior Pokémon game, that it'll be completely new aimed at experienced fans, not like Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu & Let's Go Eevee and states that it will contain many brand new Pokémon."

Abby and Danika had a podcast earlier this year for a bit. 5 episodes. https://howboutnow.simplecast.fm/

Are we counting the appearances on KF? those are consumable as podcasts too, and Jeff/Alex have been on a few times.

I have the opposite problem, at our old place the tv caught terrible glare really easily during the day, so the darker the game the harder it became to see anything. And like witcher 3, which supplied it's own glare when bright and became pitch black in caves was just a nightmare to play comfortably. Same with the last Batman game. Everything in that game was just differing shades of dark and darker, so if there was any glare at all I was badically blind and had to put it down.

My other gripe is that a lot of games have shrunk their text to such a small font that it's almost illegible without glasses. 2k and p5 were the biggest offenders with this

I just got a ps4 pro last month, which makes my console considerably superior to my current laptop gaming setup (which was equivalent to a base ps4). Before i could pick and choose which games i wanted to play on pc or ps4 depending on sales and discounts, but now every time i see some heavily discounted pc titles i have to keep reminding myself i just got a pro.

at this point im ready for zero tolerance across the board as a general policy. There may be rare exceptions, but im just tired of all of it.

I have pretty high hopes for the pokemon game. The fact that they're taking their time with it, and doubling down on it as a core pokemon game makes me excited to see what they can do. If they can actually pull off the real console pokemon, without any compromises, there isn't really anything that I want more.

I think it depends on what you enjoy or want out of a tycoon type game.

Specifically with amusement park games for example: if you just liked building cool rides and designing fun theme parks, Planet Coaster is great for that. The game is all about freedom and creativity, and building to your heart's content. But if you want more challenge and enjoyed more of the business/management aspects of the game, there are elements of the old RCT games that are not present in modern theme park sims. I've been going back to Rollercoaster Tycoon 1 on my phone recently, and that game is still incredibly fun and challenging. RCT3 is really good too, and is probably the best blend of challenge and fun that i want out of those games.

Moving on from theme park games, I've heard good things about the last Zoo Tycoon game they put out on Xbox One. It started out kinda thin and rough, but it sounds like they put a lot of work into it post-launch, and seems good if you're into that. There's also Project Highrise, which is a tower management sim that is pretty good. If Game Dev Tycoon interests you, just know that there is a free mobile version that's very similar (just less fully-featured), so you might want to give that a shot before purchasing on steam. Lastly there's a bunch of stuff on steam if you look for "management" type games, like SimAirport, Startup Company, etc, that are the same tycoon idea but applied to different concepts/situations.

@justin258: exchange rate is about 1.3x USD, so that seems about right.

At this point, there's no hope in them changing for the rest of this generation. I firmly believe that the only way to knock them off their high horse (the tried and true console-generation way) is if and when microsoft's next gen console starts outselling theirs. The people that created and made PS4 at the start of this generation (Andrew House, Jack Tretton, even Adam Boyes) are gone, and the current top guys there are only gonna answer if they lose their market share and it hits them financially. There's no changing the 80M install base they've already built this gen, but it just feels inevitable that they're gonna fall on their faces, and only then are they gonna wake up.
