@taesoawful: The current Splatfest is set up in a way to completely ignore the popular choice other than the free point it gets. This makes it so that a team can't win by people noticing a winning side and choosing it and then doing nothing.
The Mayo match shortage complaint is nonsensical because the only matches that count are the Mayo vs Ketchup matches. This means that both teams had an equal number of games counted and Mayo won the majority of those matches.
If there is any negative about the Splatfest setup it's that younger children are more likely to choose the side that has more people on it and thus more children have a higher chance of being in the matches that actually count towards the wins/losses. I don't really think there is a way to fix this at all though so it's a non issue.
