keyj: Best of 2010

List items

  • The first ME introduced us to a universe reminiscent of world class space opera, but it felt there was so much more that could be done. ME2 fulfilled so many of those gaps that it is almost a perfect game.

  • This was the first in the wild west that pulled me into the genre. Following playing this game I got pulled into Deadwood and it took me down a dark road to western movies and TV shows from there. There were a few things I can fault in the game, more then ME2, so that is why it is my number 2 for 2010.

  • Bad Company 2 was a FPS that had an engaging story and solid game controls.

  • An improvement on the previous game in many ways.

  • If you have a life do not play this game. If you though WoW ate you time away, then you will be disgusted at how much time can be thrown at this. It's a game for creators, artists, and crazies. Best Indie game this year, or at least the most surprising success.

  • Conviction is a great reboot of the Splinter Cell series, and it has a style that makes this game very unique.

  • StarCraft has a nostalgic appeal to me. I remember playing Warcraft and seeing the low-res video that came with the game to show upcoming games. I was so excited for the original that I called EB multiple times to see if it had been released yet. This game renewed my fondness of game and made me remember my childhood.

  • I had never played a Civilization game before this one, and the idea of a turn based strategy never interested me. This game changed my mind about how engaging a TBS can be.

  • This game had very tedious and uninteresting game mechanics, but the story had me craving for more. If this game had been the open-world that they had originally pitched it might have been significantly better. I wanted to see more, and explore more of this world. Regardless of its significant downfalls it is a game I cannot forget.

  • Another game this year that had an engaging story but missing a lot of game. There was no point in making this an open world game, as it felt empty and dead. The first game's era was worth exploring, this one was missing a lot of character. Once again, regardless of its faults it is a game I enjoyed.
