I really don't understand all this nay-saying and disappointment with the wrap-up. I think you have to look at it from a real point of view, instead of expecting a 'heroes journey' narrative.
This isn't a story about someone who comes across some kind of super conspiracy, becomes hyper-competent and 'saves the day'. That's fiction, tropey bullshit. This game is about real people, and what happens in 'real' situations.
Sure, you can say that all that stuff with the conspiracy and suspense bent is subverting your expectations, but that's what it's there to do - subvert your expectations. And you're put in the shoes of someone who's just trying to put one foot in front of the other and get through, like 99% of the humans out there. Don't tell me you'd be a superhuman superhero in this situation, as I bet dollars to doughnuts you wouldn't.
So have an open mind and feel a bit. They are doing something different with the medium we all love.
Drew should lose buddy points with DHorse for treating him like that. I always tried to keep my buds out of harms way. DHorse didn't go down once in my game.
Drew gets super lucky to take down that wandering soldier right away with a lucky shot and then kicks him to wake him up to interrogate him. ROFL. As if a crazy person would have anything useful to tell you.
You can interrogate those guys, but only through CQC grabs. Try it. It's one of the easier ways to finish those missions, besides walking up to one while in a cardboard box.
