I'm not sure what's up with a lot of the TF2 hate out there.  I didn't realize it had become such a polarizing game.  If people aren't super into it, people seem to be really turned off.  Yeah, it's got a quicker pace than something like Halo.  Yeah, it's been out long enough for vets to have a real leg up.  But the crafting, the ability to help out without directly killing people, and the game modes set it apart from the competition.

maybe "hate" is a little strong.  but i recently saw a derisive Penny Arcade post and the guys on the Bombcast were talking light smack.  I'm not trying to be a major defender or anything.  I'm just intrigued, considering how heralded the game seemed to be at launch.

As far as I'm concerned, TF2 (on the PC at least) is one of the best, if not the best, multiplayer shooter out there right now.

Most people either seem to adore it or they just don't get it at all. I don't usually see people getting upset about it, though.

TF2 is always the multiplayer game I get owned at but still come back because no matter how good you are, there is always a role for you!

I haven't seen any TF2 hate. They talked about it on the Bombcast but they were really just expressing unfamiliarity with the game, not talking smack about it and while I haven't seen the Penny Arcade post you're talking about, Penny Arcade poke fun at just about every aspect of games and the games industry, it's just what they do. If this kind of stuff qualifies as hate then just about every game out there is getting some serious hate.

Most hate for multiplayer shooters are usually directed towards a little game you may have heard before, named "Bobby Kotick's Milkcow Shooter 2009".

never seen any real hate for tf2 myself. least not among us pc guys. the console versions may get hate, because i guess from what i hear there is no support for em. personally i loves me some tf2...although there are too many damned turrets now with that new engineer patch. however its fine if you get spies on your team that know the job and pull some sabotage like they should.

I have never seen anyone talk shit about TF2. The only people I have seen do it are grizzled veterans who have played the game for like 600 hours already. They usually moan about some of the new unlocks or how TF2 isn't as pure as it once was, but they never really give it proper HATE.
