Most of the best titles have already been mentioned so I'll recommend a few that I'd consider to be hidden gems.

• The Wizards Who Fell Down a Hole (Bubble Bobble clone)
• Vidiot Game (Wario Ware clone)
• Apple Jack 2 (Puzzle Platformer)
• X S.E.E.D. (side scroller with a very unique weapon mechanic)
• Press X to Not Die (Sega CD inspired FMV goofiness)
• Dead Pixels (River City Ransom with guns)
• Fist Puncher (River City Ransom with jokes)
• Fishing Girl (super adorable fishing game)

I think I'm well over the $10 limit here but I'm fairly confident you'll have a good time with any of these.
