Strange Text Message

I received this strange text message the other day that said "Visit my MMS message in the next 7 days via the web at [insert web address]." The good news is that the message said it came from my wife's cell phone number, and all I had to do was check to see if it was sent from her. Of course, it was not. So, I called my service provider and all they could say was that it it wasn't from her. Does anyone know what this is or how to fight back against it?

I posted this on the tested forums as well.

As far as I know, it's like being spammed in your email... you could try texting back STOP.  But then you are only confirming for them that there's a person at the other end to spam.

I get messages all the time saying I deserve compensation for my accident, however I have not had an accident.

Unless my memory loss is a result of my accident!

Just ignore it. But be careful and check your phone bills closely. I had a text message like that once, and the company responsible for sending it to me started charging my account for a service I had no idea existed.

Ugg I hate that this is happening now. Over the last year or so I've started to get spam texts on my cell phone and it drives me nuts. I don't have unlimited texting on my plan so these assholes are costing me money every time they fucking pull this bullshit. I've called my provider to see if there was anything I could do about this and their answer was basically "lol too bad?".

I get those to. Just think of it as spam for your phone.
