I will be honest I was getting an ominous feeling about engage between that fact that it was clearly a b tier project and the fact that NoA had no interest in promoting it to mainstream outlets. This is one case were Im really glad that feeling was wrong. I'm even enjoying the story in a "alear just cleaved that guy in half while their theme song played" way although that could change depending on how dumb the Veyle stuff gets. The dub being really good helps a lot in that front.

With Lost Eidolons I see you have disoverd "Golden Sun" syndrome where one text box of information is conveyed through three text box worth of dialogue.

In retrospect it is weird Binding Blade never came out over here.Especially since in the west "Fire Emblem" effectively ends on a cliffhanger.Blazing blade was 2003 and Sacred Stones was 2005 so in theory there was a release window for it in 2004. I can't imagine the localization would have been particular difficult but Nintendo at large was sort of on fire at the time and completely reevaluating their priorities so I guess it got lost in the shuffle.

I was actually going to try Binding blade when the new translation patch came out a few years ago but couldn't get the patch to work and didn't care enough to fix it. I did watch someone stream through most of it and was mostly struck by how it completely lacks any personality or notable features what so ever. That bit in your stream where you call it the SRPG equivalent to Thor: The Dark World is an uncanny good comparison.

you could honestly do an entire season of the wheel that is just ps3 era JRPGs. anyone remember white knight chronicles har har.

The thing I most remember about Blue Dragon was how extremely hard they tried to make it a thing. Not even in just the "Microsoft would like to sell more than double digit units in japan" part but you got the feeling they really thought this was going to be huge. They paid for an anime adaption. It got two ds spinoffs. two!

I love how the genesis/mega drive has all these games who's western cover art feels like its from a megadeath album but then the game itself has an anime art style. Phantasy star is the most notable I feel but its been fun to see through this entire blog project.

I was already deep in the anime hole when I first watched eva and knew all the major details through cultural osmosis. I think the series starts out okay finds a groove when Asuka joins the cast peaks with the Zeruel episodes and then kind of loses the plot after Ryoji dies. However it all comes back together with End of Eva which is just fantastic.

Honestly the only thing I have ever wanted to add to the eva conversation is that I find it hard to buy Shinji as super troubled when every girl in the show wants to have sex with him. The boy has clearly been through some stuff and piloting the eva is soul draining but the boy has friends and a guardian/parental figure who is there for him. (However everything started to click once I started reading Shinji as gay so make of that what you will)

Im not looking forward to rebuild 4/3+1 electric boogaloo because everyone is just going to use it a an excuse to relitigate eva 3.0 and frankly Im just sort of done with eva discourse in general and especially discourse around the rebuild movies.
