To answer Dan and Drew's question about guided air-to-air missiles being used in WW2; No air-to-air guided missiles were in use during WW2, however the Germans did invent the very first guided air-to-air missile, the Rurhstahl X-4, which was not used, and two guided bombs, the Henschel Hs 293, which was used numerous times and sunk or damaged 27 Allied military vessels.

They also developed another guided bomb, the Fritz-X (of course), which was used to damage or sink 6 other vessels, including damaging the HMS Warspite and the USS Savannah.
