Brad is most likely talking about XboxAhoy's (Ahoy) A Brief History of Graphics on YouTube. Amazing YouTuber. You should look at all his weapon videos and especially his pieces on DOOM and Quake.
I really miss Titanfall. I loved the gameplay, especially having the grunts in Attrition. This review was surprisingly positive, although Jeff hinted at being very into Titanfall 2 these past couple weeks.
If I got Titanfall 2, I would probably just stick to Attrition. Can't afford it now - I hope it still has a player base after Christmas. The first game died off quickly on PC.
I bought this on PC when the 60 FPS patch hit and I refunded it on Steam after 40 minutes. I really want to play this game, but the performance on PC is fairly poor. The one thing I can say is that the game runs at a solid 30 FPS at my resolution (3440x1440) on a single 980 Ti no matter what settings I use. I can get 60 FPS indoors and get an average of 45 FPS. I'd really want 60 FPS though...
If the performance issues don't get fixed, I'll wait until the game is $30 and purchase it then.
A lot of new games are now supporting multi-threaded CPUs and prioritize multiple cores other than single core, single thread performance. Games like Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Rise of the Tombraider, and Forza Horizon 3 use all of my 5820K's 6 cores and 12 threads to varying degrees, mostly on the first 4 cores and 8 threads.
With a single GPU and lower resolutions (1920x1080, 2560x1440), RAM doesn't really factor into it until you get into either higher framerates or larger resolutions. 3440x1440 and 4096x2160/3840x2160 really benefit from higher speed DDR4, especially when you factor in dual GPU setups.
But that's getting to the higher end of the computer spectrum. i5s are still good, but can also hamper your performance at the highest settings, especially when it comes to anisotropic filtering, texture size, and alpha effects. i7s are now being utilized to a surprisingly thorough degree, which is actually exciting.
Yeesh. Definitely what Brad and Jeff experienced over their observable playtime (through the QL and Brad's stream). I truly wonder how much of this game can be fixed via patches - if ReCore even gets patched. For some reason, I doubt this game will be patched in any major fashion.
Shame. If it does get patched and most of these bugs get ironed out, I think I would pick the game up for $20 or so.
