No, get Gears of War 3. I'm going to assume you have played Halo before, so that would really just be a nostalgia trip. GoW3 will be something you haven't played before.

Well, obviously enough, the answer is: Which franchise do you like better? 
 
From another angle, Gears 3 will be an entirely new game, and it may be the best one yet, or a middling disappointment. Can't be sure until it actually comes out. On the other hand, unless 343 is planning on pulling a fast one on us, Anniversary is going to play out just like Halo: Combat Evolved, so whether you get that one or not at all should depend on how much you still enjoy that game.

Both. They're 2 months away from each other and Halo CE: Anniversary is only $40. Surely you can fork up $100 for games...

They're two months away from each other and are far away from release day, get both unless your poor as fuck, in which case don't buy video games. Also, just in case you don't know, Halo Anniversary Edition is using Halo: Reach's multiplayer.

Go with Gears, it's something that you haven't played before. The updated visuals don't put it as a priority over Gears.

If you've ever played Halo: CE then go for Gears 3.

If you've never played Halo: CE then go for Halo: CE.

If you play Reach multiplayer regularly then go for Halo: CE.

I'm a big Halo fan and I say Gears of War 3. Have you seen the new features? 4 player co-op, expanded horde mode, dedicated online servers, wider player customization. I just feel like with sixty bucks your still getting more. Then again, my friends are buying it, and I always buy multi-player games my friends buy.

Halo CE is pretty much for the big Halo fans. If you love Halo, get this. I can't wait to play it co-op online w/a friend and find all the entry clues for Halo 4.

Other than that, Gears 3 will be a greater value. Sposed to be huge in terms of campaign, Horde mode, and server based mp...should be awesome as well. And it is out more than 2 months before CE. Get both when you can imo.

@maddesthatter985: I said Halo but I'm Halohead - is up to you really. If you are into Halo multiplayer it comes with a nice update for Reach.

Gears. I have never fully played Halo CE before (shocking I know) but Gears of War 3 willl be an entirely new game and is the end to the trilogy, while Halo is just a revamped version of the original. 
 
Reverse the situation. If Gears had already come out before Halo and this was Halo 3 coming out and Gears 1 was being re-done, which would you get?

Gears of War 3 for sure. While Halo was fantastic back in the day, Gears 3 is fantastic today. Especially with regards to multiplayer.
