I really like this article, I also played through Dragon Age as a Quniar and felt the same way. A Lot of the sideways complements that some of the party members and general people in the world would kinda throw me through a loop because they are eerily similar to what I've heard from people over the years... I thought I was weird for thinking that but glad to see that I'm not alone in seeing that.
Honestly I think the cover "mechanic" is more so an aesthetic thing than some way to play the game and watching the quick look I was confused as to why Jeff seemed to be using the powers as if they were consumables rather than moves you can almost spam out by the time you get near the midpoint of the game...
Having played through the game myself nothing about the game-play even hinted that using "cover", which most explodes or has objects that explode next to them, was a good idea. The weapons didn't have scopes and pretty much were mostly effective mid to close range. The enemies themselves never hung around in cover or stayed anywhere long enough to stop and pop like a gears of war or any cover based shooter....
Really disappointed of how poorly this game was played in this QL, you have time powers why would you not use them?!?!? the dash & dodge lets you run past flanking enemies and gives you a few seconds to to aim and shoot, the shield knocks enemies back gives you time to heal and defects bullets, the bubble power lets you freeze most enemies or a space around an object to just dump a clip into the area pretty much killing them or blowing up something like a car or red barrel.... I mean playing it in this boring cover based shooter matter or mindset is like going to a big top tent circus to sit under the bleacher seats to feed cotton candy and popcorn to dying sick baby ducks...... you can do better and you know it......
