id rather pay 99$ for a 250 gig xbox360 hard drive then pay 40 bucks more for 32 gigs holy shit wait 4 prices to drop

have fun paying 280 for a vita i knew 249.99 sounded to good to be true

and i thought xbox 360 hard drives were expensive ,,, and people said 3ds was a rip off at 249.99

I paid around $70 for my 32GB SD card. $120 is nuts for a 32GB Sony branded memory stick.

360s hard drive has more space and cost less,

also the psp go -- had 16 gigs preloaded

and when i bought my psp 1000 it came with at least a 512 mem stick included, so yes this is the first time this has happened , you need a memory card to even boot a game where as psp or any system eg n64 ps1 ps2 gc dc would load a gaME REgardless the only feature that you would be missing is saving but now you cant even boot the games, so seeing the circumstances and how people complained how ms used propiroty hard drives well this is worst because their highest cost more then 360s 250 gig hard drive and that ha more space on it,

not that you need 250 gig for a 360 lol , you can play a game without a hard drive as far as ms is concerned ,

but sony you gotta have it,

its like telling you to play this game you have to have a pc that has windows 98 not windows vista,

so ya sony has definatelly failed with the consumers on this one , people say you should never market a handheld at 250 well sonys basically selling theirs for 280 (wifi only version)

what do you think an average consumer would do - say some one who just wants to play the game they buy the system and game go home not knowing you actually need a memory card not just to save but to boot the game up ! silly if you ask me the games are on cards , so why do i have to have a memory stick to boot a game stupid very stupid

and actually yes, vita games are 4 gigs big, can go up to 8 so yes their as big /can be as big as a xbox 360 game,

but guess what , --- you do not need to have a hard drive to boot it up lol but with this hunk of junk , you sure do ,

not only is it manditory im pretty sure game installs will be manditory next just like ps3

price for a 3ds- 210 -w 1 game 2 gig sd card

price for a vita- arm and a leg eg 310-340 w 4 gig mem card /30 game-40 to 60? psvita it self-250/300 depending on version so there you have it, a 100 dollar plus difference in price , just to get going a ps3=at the very minimum- 270 -20 dollar game -250 dollar console, w 160 gig of space included,

a wii -512mb included 2 games- included for 149.99

a xbox 360 199.99 4 gig-just like a 4 gig vita but vita costs 130 dollars more , oh ya 204 w a 4.99 game for 360 ,,

thats the bare minimum effort youll need to buy a 360 a wii and a ps3 and a 3ds vs a vita , so you choose which is better

Don't these Vita memory cards have like, a REALLY HIGH read/write data rate comparable to those high end memory sticks? If so, I think the price is at least somewhat justified.

It's sad to say but this thing seems to be destined to fail. I think I'll wait for the inevitable price drop if I do bother getting one. Those prices are pretty retarded.

it will be awesome for a while for people who can afford it but yeah mass market appeal is not there

I feel it's targeted better for the "gamers" market, but yes the "mass market appeal" is another thing and difficult for Sony to target compared to Nintendo.

I'm getting Vita regardless, but I hope this won't drastically affect sales. I want to actually play the system and not have it lose support after it's first year like original PSP.

The original prices of the 4 and 8 gig cards as been dropped. Or as was said on Kotaku, "Sony corrected" the prices. This could be a sign that there is going to be a price revision coming for the other cards. The original prices lined pretty well with the japanese cost, which is odd. Usually japan's prices are a good bit higher than the NA prices. Some of that could have to do with tax, as I believe that tax is included with the prices like it is in the UK.

The price of the 4 gig dropped by $5 and the price of the 8 gig dropped $10
