Now that I think about it I do wish Daniel Bryan's final Wrestlemania moment wasn't just headbutting Ziggler off a ladder but rather the dream match with Brock Lesnar that literally everybody wanted to see.

I'm sorry guys but everything about this Daniel Bryan retirement gets a big ol' shrug out of me. Like I've been under the impression for several months that he was never going to wrestle again, at least not for WWE. The people who had hope that he would return I suspect are the same people holding out hope that some day WWE will have consistently good booking. I only got back into wrestling back in 2014 during that Wresltemania season and while I thought D. Bry had a good showing, I base that entirely off of crowd reaction because again I saw Daniel Bryan wrestle maybe 4 or 5 times total in WWE over the past 2 years. I get that you're all die hard WWE marks but that product could not even hold my attention for a full year before I dropped it all together. Perhaps Bryan's absence was indicative of that but we'll never know because I simply DID NOT have the exposure to him to decide how I felt about him one way or the other. Before y'all start telling me which of his matches I should go back and watch a) it's pointless because it's not like once I familiarize myself with his body of work it'll bring him back to the ring and b) the stuff he did elsewhere shouldn't be indicative of his skill in WWE because I imagine like all the other indy guys they bring in they probably cut about 30% of his really cool moves and booked him like trash.

I'm in this weird head space lately where I feel like all the best wrestlers go to WWE to retire (also they hire big muscle dudes). Not retire for real like D. Bry or the various legends but they're basically done in my eyes. Take Kevin Owens for example. When he got called up to Raw I wasn't like "Oh boy now I get to see KO on the TV" I was like, "Well I guess I'll never see Kevin Owens wrestle again because I don't watch garbage wrestling promotions." Don't get me wrong, I wish KO a long and prosperous career, however slowing him down and cutting 30% of his move set is just not going to get me watching again. Same goes for AJ Styles and Sasha Banks. Obviously they have a lot to offer but I'm not interested because the company they now work for book talent like shit. Sorry for being cynical guys. I just think WWE has bigger problems than one of their best and brightest calling it quits.

My prediction as someone not watching is that Bo Dallas comes out and says "Winning is phat and all of that, losing is wack and Bo-zack." It's time to get live, it's time to represent.

Considering both AJ Styles and Samoa Joe are now in the employ of WWE I did a quick check up on Christopher Daniels. Apparently still doing RoH and Indie dates as well as dabbling with comic books. Of that trio of dudes he seems like he'll be the unsung hero of that hybrid wrestling style that has caught on with younger wrestlers these days. He's obviously not as marketable as the other two dudes but still, the dude could go. I'm assuming he's still partnering with Frankie Kazarian fairly regularly? I got to see The Addiction wrestle The World's Cutest Tag Team a little over a year ago and that was some good stuff. I saw a handful of RoH stuff with The Addiction last year and it was mostly okay, but I just have issues with RoH and not necessarily with the talent they book.

I could eat a kit kat at any time and feel good about it. Runner ups would be reese's cups, whatchamacallit, and twix bars (preferably peanut butter). I haven't had a symphony bar nor a take 5 in a while but I remember liking both of those.

Lucha Underground continues to be the best wrestling show. I have completely bought into the idea that this is a promotion that features wrestlers with super powers and I think they have the perfect roster of dudes to get that concept over. The cut scenes are the best thing to happen to modern wrestling programming and it's a shame no one else is even trying to ape this style, regardless of what a money sink it may be.

Killshot and Mundo had a rad match and having some light promo work from Mundo and Cage afterwards was oddly refreshing.

I think the way PJ Black carried himself in his debut match was contrary to how they built up his character in the cut scene. I suppose that's a disadvantage to filming matches so far in advance. The match was okay. I mostly enjoyed it for illustrating how there are various fighting styles within this league. Wrestling is at it's best to me when it's depicted as a global martial arts league. What I enjoyed most about the match was hearing Vampiro giving Striker shit for referring to PJ as just "Black" opposite of The Mack.

The cut scene of Marty the Moth continuing to be a creepy McCreeperson with Sexy Star was entertaining. Yeah yeah subjugation of women is bad and all that but whatever. It's not like they don't depict shit that's 10 times worse on something like Law and Order.

The trios match was weird because for one thing it was two on three. I guess it's a way to spit on Lucha Libre tradition signifying that evil has taken hold of this temple. Pentagon and Puma are so freaking good. Literally two of the best guys they have right now. I love how Vampiro maintains kayfabe on commentary in a meta psychotic sort of way.

Based on the final scene it seems like they are smartly putting Rey Mysterio into a mentor role for whoever this Nuevo Azteca Dragon is suppose to be.

Jack Evans was on Art of Wrestling. I really need to rethink how I sleep on airplanes...

My fantasy booking of Fastlane is the same as it was last year. Fuck putting on a wrestling show. Just have some wacky event actually involving cars driven by wrestlers i.e. monster truck show, destruction derby, rally race. Hell Vince wants to call this thing sports entertainment so how about do something outside of the sport of simulated prize fighting. I'd love to see a cannonball run-esque reality series out of them. Hell they got all these guys who are injured, make a cross country car race with those dudes and that's guaranteed to be better content than the stuff they have planned for the network.

I finished BOLA 2012. Some thoughts

Crazy how big Brian Cage has gotten compared to how he was just under 4 years ago. He didn't have a great run in PWG last year but hopefully they got something cool planned for him on Lucha Underground.

My theory holds true that the losers' bracket tag matches are the best part of the final night of BOLA. Sleazy Kyle O'Reilly is the best thing ever. The crowd in Reseda is pinning a lot of hopes on Zack Sabre Jr. as the next champ but personally I would actually prefer O'Reilly to give Roddy his comeuppance and be back on top.

After seeing a number of these DVDs I think I finally realized why I don't like the American Wolves. Eddie Edwards clearly works a baby face style and Davey Richards had the heel style down to a science. Why anyone would think these two would make a good tag team is beyond me. I mean they put on decent matches in TNA but nothing that anyone will remember them for. I somewhat remember them trying to split those two and it was as uninteresting as you can imagine from that promotion so they just put them back together.

I have no clue why WWE wanted Sami Callihan. Sure he's got charisma but he seems to excel in a more hardcore style of wrestling and in a PG era of television I don't think that expertise is very useful. Also I think those singlets look terrible on him. He strikes me as more of a CZW wrestler more than anything else.

The best guest commentator with Excalibur was always without a doubt Kevin Steen. He's hilarious every single time and you can tell he actually loves doing it. If KO's in ring career in WWE ever gets cut short I could so see him doing commentary for them and being great. Him playing heel color commentator for Mauro Ranallo would be a dream come true. Chuck Taylor with Excalibur is a close second best or should I say new number one as far as hilarious PWG commentary goes.

The tournament itself was pretty damn great overall. The finals was a really awesome start to the ascension of Adam Cole baybay.

I can think of a lot of portable versions of games in this vein. I didn't have a SNES growing up so I didn't get to play Final Fantasy 4 or 6 until the GBA releases and I loved both of them. I ended up playing Chrono Trigger on an emulator about a decade ago and really loved that as well. Never played Valkyrie Profile until it came to PSP. Didn't play Ghost Trick until it came out on iOS. Didn't get around to Zero Escape: 999 until long after Patrick finished Virtue's Last Reward. During a family road trip last year I played and beat 10000000. All of these are fine examples of games I really wish I had played sooner because they were so insanely up my alley.

Was never a fan of Bret Hart growing up, I was more of an Owen Hart kid. However as an adult looking back at his body of work his level of talent was undeniable. I wish nothing but the best for Bret.
