@tartyron: Ah, all that makes perfect sense, thanks for a nice summation.

HEI network is Tim Heidecker’s thing, so carries some of the same status and audience size you mentioned for my other examples.

I also agree it would be nice if content just got posted at least - it feels like Fandom is somehow restricting content right? Or at least putting a lot of non content demands on people’s time. Popular features are dropping off the radar right and left. My fav thing right now is JJBA and it’s obvious they are barely committing an hour every two weeks to it

Maximum Fun, CBB world, HEI network

All examples of group that, from the outside, appear to be creator owned without corporate ownership and don’t require Patreon. Maybe I’m wrong?

I would agree that it may not make financial sense for everyone in the extended GB universe, and would be a ton of work to get off the ground, but it feels like a neat idea to me, assuming anyone who used to work at GB even wants to be involved anymore.

Honestly, I’d be surprised if there is a GB as we know it by GOTY time 2023, but maybe something new?

@styx971: right, and as nice as it would be it probably doesn’t make financial sense. If I’ll give $5 a month to 3 different entities, why would they give that up so that I only give one payment to the larger entity?

I realize this idea effectively just re creates GB without corporate funding that is probably needed.

But maybe if folks do leave and create their own stuff this could be at least a collective marketing strategy- creating a post GB “family” of material under one roof that I use to still choose to support individual projects directly.

Again, Maximim fun kinda has this model, I just imagine it makes them less money than being owned by someone does….

It seems to me that a model for creator-owned podcast/show networks already exists and would be neat to see current, and maybe former, GB folks start up together outside of cooperate ownership (no health insurance of course though :(

Maximum fun, CBB world, HEI network and others - creative people are making their own creator collectives. Supporting a bunch of individual patreons for the staff I love is maybe okay, but I think it would be cool to see current and former people band together in some kind of similar network, assuming the desire is there for them on a personal level and their relationships haven’t deteriorated.

Hell, include archives of Noclip and cloth map videos, have Gerstmann do an interview show, fold in Game Mess news, have the Fire Escape team join up…. Assuming none of it is proprietary I wonder if that’s a possibility at all?
