actually it's 26 hours and counting. i would have had this up earlier if it weren't for extensive travel yesterday and this morning, but that's what happens. with The Witcher beckoning me to finish the last three chapters over the weekend, this will be a short post with a self-explanatory presentation video at about 25 minutes. i had to use vimeo for this little number thanks to youtube's 15-minute rule for new accounts, which i prefer as a standard but i know it's not the standard
and don't worry, i settle the camera a minute in or so. here it is (god damnit GB i thought you took html. if anyone can make embedding this video work it will be great for future reference and i will give you a TF2 hat because i think they're equal to a dollar or less)
noteworthy timecodes are at:
0:52 - Cladun X2
3:08 - Atelier Totori and trailer
6:08 - Cave Story 3D, which i wrote a bit about last night and will feature both 2D and 3D styles for compromise's sake
8:52 - Disgaea 4, Yamamoto has a word in
11:25 - Disgaea 4 trailer (link defeats the purpose, right?)
18:24 - Bleach: Soul Resurrection and trailer at 20:10
22:05 and after are closing words
enjoy and discuss. i haven't had time to see if the full presentation was posted anywhere so hopefully this isn't old and some people get a little extra out of it. i messed around with the three games on display, so here are the brief impressions before i hit the magic wizard game
an english build was running on a smaller demo station, along with a japanese one projected at the theater screen. perhaps the only time i'll see Bleach on the silver screen
Cave Story 3D: it's Cave Story on a 3DS. it feels just like the DSiWare title and now has a facelift. the 3D effect as i mentined in my earlier post is nice and tame, enhancing visuals rather than disrupting them. it's nice to see that restraint exercised in a game like this, but i'm not sure how crazy they really could have gotten
Disgaea 4: look gorgeous. the sprites are now in HD and look like moving illustrations, for lack of a better term. while i thought Disgaea 3's pixelated characters had some charm to them, there's nothing to complain about with the overhaul brought to D4. it otherwise plays the same and is literally stacked to the ceiling with features... so pretty much the ultimate form of a Disgaea title. fans will most definitely be pleased
oh and there was some stuff i don't think i was supposed to see, like a build of Resident Evil: Raccoon City in the games bar when one of the Bleach builds crashed. i only wish the opportunity to get into there had shown itself, but it's always fun to accidentally come across secret shit like that
alright, i gotta get back on The Witcher. hopefully the post turned out okay for all to enjoy. i know i'm late to the party on yesterday's events
which reminds me of one last thing: anyone who thinks Western RPG's know how to tell a story and reference Bioware or Bethesda games as their best candidate hasn't played The Witcher yet
