E3 2012 is coming...

In 4 weeks, E3 2012, I can not wait what they offer, but for now here is my view from E3 2011.

My E3 judgement, who won this year conference?

Originally posted on 6/7/2011

The Big 3 just finish their conference, who won to the top and who is at the bottom of the gaming food chain. All 3 companies offered gamers what to look for in 2001-2012, some were good, and some were not interesting. This will be my "2 cent" about the big 3 conference and what I think of it, with that, it's time to give my thoughts.

Microsoft:

I sense a déjà vu on their conference, it's like the same pattern from last year, first they showed Call of Duty game, then some 1st party hardcore games, then Xbox dashboard updates, then Kinect games, and a surprise in the end, weird. Nothing personal, but First Person Shooters are really not a cup of tea of mine, whether the game is good or not, I care not, so watching Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is not interested no matter what, sorry. The only thing that was interested to me was Gears of War 3, it looks good, and I played the other two. The other interesting part is Xbox NXE update, I thing in my opinion they made it more friendly use and copied the window phone format and add new features that supposed to make it friendly use. Kinect games was not interesting and focus on casual, not bad, but appealing wouldn't last long. Dance Central look interesting, but for now since I don't have a Kinect, is not something for me a must have. Last is the big surprise, Halo 4, just like CoW games, I don't care, all I can say is whoopee and I know the fans are happy that Halo still continues. Overall, not bad conference, but not alot of interesting that catch my eyes.

Sony:

They never cease to amaze me, there is always something intriguing for me, perhaps since I like SCE and that I bought their console since the PSX days. I loved the game announcement that will come in 2011-2012, GoW: Origin and ICO: HD (which planning to get), a new Sly game finally and new game that could interest me called, Medieval Gladiator: Deadmund's Quest, which I thought it was a sequel to Medieval. There were some games that support PS Move, but I prefer traditional, thank goodness for making it an option, not mandatory like Wii games. Then comes PSPVita, the PSP successor, I think it look interesting and the games offer were not shabby, but already seen on console, except Ruin, but there is a PS3 version al well, but not bad. The game that surprises me is Street FighterX Tekken for the PSPVita, which will guest star Cole from Infamous, Kratos was in Soul Caliber and Mortal Kombat, so why not another SCEA hero, perhaps on the long run there could SCExCapcom, heh, heh... The biggest prop and respect I like to address is the PSN Outage, Jack and Kaz apologize to the fans about this event and that to me shows respect and humble for ppl who supported SCE, respect from me, awesome. It was more interesting that Microsoft and the PSVita could be a competition to the Nintendo 3Ds due to the price point with is $249.99, same as the Nintendo 3DS, but that will be another blog, when I explain my 2 cent on PSPVita vs. Nintendo 3DS

Nintendo:

The Nintendo Wii U, some called it the Wii HD and some say the successor to the GameCube which once again they are focusing to the hardcore. The innovation, the control has its own screen, it can be used as a second screen or to play game on the screen like Remote Play with the PS3 & PSP, but just better, I think. In the conference, it was confusing if it was the controller was the console itself, but there is a console and you can see it on their Nintendo E3 site, they just didn't show it at the conference, since they just announce it, of course they wouldn't tell more about it, but in due time. The question is, is it a hardcore system, judging by the developers, I say yes, it look like it. Well for now let's see if Nintendo will give more info on later year(s) since it won't come out until 2012. The 3Ds finally has good games that is interesting to me, Mario Kart, Luigi's Mansion 2, Super Mario 3d, and Kid Icarus are some of the games that I'm getting excited, it makes me have a reason to get the 3Ds, but I hope with the competition to PSPVita that the 3Ds could go down in price, but then I have to wait till end of the year where PSPVita will be release. Interesting part is the celebration of the Zelda franchise, I love the orchestra music which will be used in the latest Zelda game Skyward Sword and thank goodness it will be on the Wii, not what they did with Twlight Princess, release 2 version. Overall I am happy what Nintendo offer for gamers and that they gave a reason for gamers to get a 3Ds.

Who won E3 2011?

3rd is Microsoft, there were not alot of games am I interested and they did what last year conference was, the same pattern, not alot Kinect games I like and Halo 4 did not save the conference.

2nd is SCE, even the PSPVita is interesting and offer some good games, for me is not a must by, perhaps since I didn't grow with SCE (rather w/ Nintendo) The HD collection are good, but only if you don't have the games yet. New way to play old franchise is nice, again needs some new and original.

Nintendo won E3 this year for me, not because of Wii U since it just announce, but the games on the 3Ds that appealed to me, yes, they are old and unoriginal, but is the games are fun, I don't minds, I love those franchise and overall, at heart, I'm a Nintendo Fanboy, grew up playing Super Mario Bros.

All of them offered something, but judges of what games gamers prefer tell who could be a victor in the conference and again this year, 2011 Nintendo offered something interesting to me, congrats to Nintendo.

So what happened now:

I got a Kinect and it's not bad, it does make you stay active, especially Dance Central 2. When Street Fighter X Tekken was shown at E3 2011 and demonstrated Cole, I was hyped and thinking about getting it, but when I heard the "DLC controversy", I decided not to get it at launch and just wait for a price drop which at Wal-Mart is $40. I hope Capcom won't pull this again in the future. I got a PS Move instead and I have to say, it's not bad as well, I really enjoyed Medieval Move, Deadmond's Quest, my advise, don't play it too long. Finally the 3Ds, I knew it when the PSVita was priced at $249.99 that Nintendo would be in trouble, well they were, "BIG TIME", within 6 months they had to drop it to $170 and of course you know what happened next. Let's just say the Nintendo executives are not happy. The system was too expensive, as well with the games and it had a very poor launch line-up, here's a tip for Reggie, stop using the phrase "Launch Window", I'm sorry, but that's so stupid and now look at their annual fiscal year. Super Mario 3D Land, Mario Kart 7, and Kid Icarus: Uprising, made me get a 3Ds, but note to self, wait until Black Friday to get a Nintendo Handheld Bundle, I got a 3Ds 2 weeks prior Black Friday, never do that again. Overall there were misstep and hopefully they learned from their mistake, now what going to happen in this year E3 2012. Oh, and the Rock defeated John Cena, nice...
